Couldn't agree more. It's probably not a good sign when you feel a lot more comfortable with him playing in front of the stumps than behind them. If I want him in the squad I'd rather have him as a specialist batsman because of his compact batting style, but as WK? No thank you!

he'll survive until a better glovemen comes along who can bat almost or just as well as him. these days keepers are expected to be able to bat as well as a specialist bat and be almost as consistent as well. i think atm mushy is the only keeper in BD capable of matching it with the specialist bats in the international arena, dhiman so far didn't really prove enough with the bat in his international matches, mithun needs more time (plus i don't know how his glovework is) and anamul haque is still in u19s.

Mushfiq has dropped more catches than he has taken.
He misses three stumpings before completing one.

He can be considered as a batsman in the side but we need a specialist keeper. Even though nowadays teams look for a specialist batsman/keeper, the keeping technique needs to be perfected first. We don't need Mush in our sude, his batting average isn't that impressive either, we should have a keeper in our side who can actually catch the ball and is good behind the stumps, quick movements, his battings runs will be a plus point. Drops and missed chances can be vital and how many times have we lost a game because of silly drops and stumpings..

I voted Yes. Mushy is a good batsman and he is improving his batting in ODI's which is a good sign if he was just to play in the team as a specialist batsmen, maybe in tests where good keeping skills is the main priority I think Dhiman would be a better option to be honest but Mushy does deserve his spot in the team in ODI's.

And plus Mushy brings alot of encouragement into our team and he does a good job of keeping the fielders on their toes.

We need a better keeper; either he improves or someone else comes in.

Mushfiq should be rested from the wicket-keeping duty. He can play as a batsman. Wicket-keeping is an specialist's job. Sometimes one or two missed catches or stumpings cost the match. Drop catches do not even out by scoring 20-30 runs.

I am bumping this thread up. Only 42% of us voted for yes. Now Mushy has improved a lot and now he is the best keeper in our country.
