Having said that, I still haven't been able understand the fascination of watching burley, muscular men bulging forth in tights, unable to keep their hands, feet and other body parts off one another ... all in the name of sports entertainment.

I don't think the female tennis players are particularly savant. And they usually have higher amount of testosterone than the average female. Gross generalizations though.

Great match between Blake and Haas. Blake had 3 match points but Haas held his serve. Then in 5th set tie breaker won the match.

Federer lost first set 3-6, then won second set 6-4.

Why? Roddick is an inferior talent compared to Federer. He has lost 9 matches in a row now to Federer. Apart from injuries or freak accidents, I can't see Federer losing this one. Federer is at a completely different level.

I don't think there's any hope. If you have been following Roddick's tennis closely for the past few years, you should know by now it's the wrong time to be a Roddick supporter. You may want to consider Nadal if you want your guy to win against Federer.

I think it's more likely that Federer will treat this as a high-profile practice match and will come out with guns blazing like he did in Australian Open 2007. Do you know what happened that time?

Well I liked Roddick from the very beginning. He had potential but never fulfilled it. He won this before. He knows what it takes. Its not that he never beat Federer. There is always hope.

As for Nadal, he is out already.

Andy's coach Jimmy Connors, the ultimate competitor back in his day,
is said to be furious with his protege surrendering to defeat so
limply, but the American number one says that his mentor can 'shove it
up his ***':

"Look, Jimmy just wants to see Roger use me as a punchbag yet again.
He keeps telling me I can beat Federer just so I'll believe it and go
out there and get bitchslapped. The last time I got destroyed, Jimmy
was up in the stands laughing his *** off along with everyone else.
I'm not gonna be taken for a sucker yet again."



When I caught up with the lookalike assigned to be the whipping boy,
he told me about the many difficulties of being a Roddick double:

"For example, I was waking down the street the other day and people
started throwing tomatoes at me and calling me 'Federer's bitch'. Then
there are the people who challenge you to a tennis match because they
think they can beat you-a 90 year-old woman said she wanted a piece of
me on the court. She even said she'd tie one hand behind her back and
wear a blindfold. Thankfully, once I assured her that I wasn't
Roddick, she changed her tune and apologised."



But he is looking forward to the challenge and is confident of fooling
the world:

"I've never picked up a racket before and I'll struggle to win a point
against Federer-so I'm sure no one will notice the difference between
me and the real Roddick. It's going to be fun; I live for moments like
these."



The lookalike's only fear is playing well, he told me:

"I don't wanna start winning points out there and actually testing
Federer-that would only arouse suspicion".

Roddick loses his tenth in a row against Federer. This time the scoreline was 7-6, 7-6, 6-2. A straight sets affair. He put up some fight in the first two sets, but then simply was resigned to fate: another ***-whopping.
