Sarkar had no idea Ajmal was capable of a direct hit

For the second successive day at the Sheikh Abu Naser Stadium in Khulna, coach Chandika Hathurusingha took Soumya Sarkar aside to the nets on the right of the two dressing rooms. Amid throwdows, there were words of encouragement when the batsman drove down the ground or met the ball properly.
Quote:
Among the three uncapped players in Bangladesh's 14-man squad, Sarkar, a top-order batsman, seems the most likely to get a Test debut. His first steps in international cricket have encouraged the selectors to pick him in the Test squad and an unbeaten 127 in the third ODI certainly helped. However, he may have to bat down the order as the team management and the selection committee are eager to keep the Tamim Iqbal-Imrul Kayes opening partnership.

Looks like Haturi has a lot of confidence and expectation from SS. He is building him slowly. Good to see.

Looks like liton won't play, sarkar is a talent but couldn't really say he deserves a call up, doesn't mean he can't do well if he is selected though because the talent is there.

That was good luck for Shabbir than a good luck for Ajmal

Throw didn't affect the End Result of the match

The guy can get classy day by day as it could be. I am really starting to love this guy's batiing. I think in our batting line up tecnique wise mushy, soumyo, shabbir look really eye pleasing equally can play big shots at will.

Doesnot have the right attitude to play in longer version. He has no idea how to play Test yet. Should stick to limited overs.

Try Liton in next test in the same position.

Was doing quite well before that last shot. Unfortunately for him, he didn't get a chance like the other players did yesterday.

Let's see how he does in the second innings. If he does the same or less, Litton should be tried.

Well he was doing fine to be honest, he was attacking i know but our runs were getting nowhere, look mushy was playing but end results he got soft dismissal. Someone needs to be attacker there not everyone needs to be in shell. He is fine, will do even better. Playing first test match didn't do that bad.

Too aggressive and not understanding the situation when to go after the bowling and when not to. Not the first one and won't be the last. Heck senior players even now are still doing it.

Leaving a ball prolongs your innings, increases your average, helps the Team. The last one matters the most.

After seeing him in last four innings at Test matches I have few doubts..

1. Is it too early for him to play Test as he is just settling in ODIs
2. He looks very uncomfortable at number 7
3. Don't we have better n specialist

Longer format players such as liton, nayeem even bijoy?

SS hasn't done anything special in FC. Why he is so early in TEST?

Soumya has problems playing pacey deliveries outside leg. We have seen him at least a couple of times nicking those deliveries to the keeper.

The coach has to work with it.

Soumya Sarker should not be selected for test matches due to shot selection issue, though he should be playing as ODI opener for the entire 2015 season.

Not sure if his poor performance in Test will affect his performance in ODIs too... Was premature to give him a chance before the other guys who had been doing good in the longer versions, like Liton

I said it before the test series it was a wrong decision to pick him.

He is not a test material, at least not now. How can he a guy be a test material who is yet to score a FC hundred in 65 innings?

Idiotic team selection by Faruk and co.

Soumya is not suited as a lower order bat in test cricket. #7 batsmen in tests should have some sort of ability to play long innings and Soumya only bats in one gear which is to be aggressive. That wont work. It was wrong to take Nasir out of the squad in the first place. Averages 37 with the bat in tests ffs !

This is why I said its too early for this kid to play Tests. Now what will the management do with him? Its clear he doesnt have temperament to play tests ATM. Dropping him in next test will seriously harm his confidence. He should have played in the league instead. What a blunder
