Are you talking about Mahmudullah? Then you are right, but this is the wrong thread. This is Shakib's third fifty in this tour to Zimbabwe - I think most batsmen would take that as a 'bad patch', an allrounder even more so!

its not a freaking captain's fault....if ur top order wilfully dispobeys you...heck, you can score a 200...the rest aorund u can get bundled for 50 runs and still loose the match.....where is the contribution..people fail here to realize he's doing his part, as well as fulofilling his captaincy...ur tactics might be the best...but if ur soldiers cant execute it...there's nothing much the general can do....but hopefully, all these willl change, with the emergence of newer kids on the block

Shouldn't the question be:

"What's wrong with you guys?"

^^ I hate the fact that Ramiz is able to gloat over our two best players not performing. I also dislike how he pronounces the players' names...

There was a man who had four sons. He wanted his sons to learn not to judge things too quickly. So he sent them each on a quest, in turn, to go and look at a pear tree that was a great distance away.

The first son went in the winter, the second in the spring, the third in summer, and the youngest son in the fall. When they had all gone and come back, he called them together to describe what they had seen.

The first son said that the tree was ugly, bent, and twisted.

The second son said no it was covered with green buds and full of promise.

The third son disagreed; he said it was laden with blossoms that smelled so sweet and looked so beautiful, it was the most graceful thing he had ever seen.

The last son disagreed with all of them; he said it was ripe and drooping with fruit, full of life and fulfillment.

The man then explained to his sons that they were all right, because they had each seen but only one season in the tree’s life.

He told them that you cannot judge a tree, or a person, by only one season, and that the essence of who they are and the pleasure, joy, and love that come from that life can only be measured at the end, when all the seasons are up.

If you give up when it’s winter, you will miss the promise of your spring, the beauty of your summer, fulfillment of your fall.

Lessons:

Don’t let the pain of one season destroy the joy of all the rest.
Don’t judge life by one difficult season.
Persevere through the difficult patches and better times are sure to come some time or later.

The article was supposed to be published once he was fit again, but alas this never happened. Just wanted to set the record straight.

Navo, thanks for your kind comments. I met Shakib very briefly earlier this summer and to me he was very courteous and very confident. However, it's what I hear in the papers from others that worries me (and I'm sure a lot of BC'ers). Ian Pont tells us he slept during the first X overs of an ODI while BD was batting, we hear of his spats with selectors and of "cliques" within the national team.

I don't know how true any of this is, but if it is, I think that's a shame.

I have no problem with Shakib as captain (for one thing, at the moment there are no viable alternatives). I just think so much responsibility so early on in his career (don't forget that Shakib was still playing Under 19 cricket as recently as 2005) has the potential to have a detrimental effect on him.

To put it another way, only an individual with exceptional leadership skills would be made CEO of a company within a few years of joining the company as an entry level recruit. Shakib has exceptional abilities on the field, no doubt about that, but there are also certain other "soft skills" that are required and Shakib is still developing these.

I think he just needs to sit back and approach things with a little more tact and thought. He's a fine cricketer and could be a great captain if he's only willing to accept when he makes mistakes and learn from them...
How many days Ian Pont working with BD Team.6 months.I worked 5 years.I know better then him what happen in side the dressing room.Ian has no idea and he misunderstand the players. Some times they watch match inside the dressing room because their is a big tv and u can see the reply or bowlers bowling. And our players believe lot of things , such as if teams going well ,players always remain their same position etc.Ian is not understand that. And my question is that if Ian saw that one why not he told Sakib that time and say to him that you should not do that .I think he has no guts to say that .Like a woman telling behind.

What's wrong with Sakib ?

He is only scoring 144 these days and then lets the captain run him out.
