This win was quite expected - it's Pakistan that I've been more worried about since our loss to the world XI.

Yeah it is what it is - a club league nowhere close to international standards. Then again, its competitive nature (anyone can beat anyone else) is something that international cricket today isn't able to provide. Winning comes, to some extent, out of habit and experience and if you don't know how to win, you start doing what we did against New Zealand in the last two ODIs and against South Africa in the T20 and that game where Ashraful hit a 70.
Remember the aftermath of the year long winning streak against the minnows?

ICL India is the defending champion of the ICL world series. They comprehensively won last time.

T20 World cup Bangladesh team needs some ICL players so badly. Someone please show our cricket board some lights. They have only 6 more months in hand.

Yes they did. However, the competition got tougher and they are now more familiar with the local players. Like you said, there is a lot of competition in 20/20, just the lenght and nature of this version of cricket makes it exciting and anyone can win. However, the Indian public are so used to winning with the national team that it'll be tougher for them to swallow the results of the ICL India team.
This may be a little too early though. They did win last year and they beat LB and came very close in this game. Who knows, may be they are better then what I saw out there today. I should take my own advice and not compare these guys to their national players.

That's very true. Our current T20 team is crap. We definetely need Alok, Nazim, SN, Aftab, Mosharraf and Dhiman in the national T20 team. Or else I think this team would lose to Ireland in the World Cup. And I'm screwed if that happens because I have Super 8 tickets and I really don't wanna watch Ireland vs. Pakistan or Ireland vs. Sri Lanka.

-Bashar should come in at 7 or 8; Dhiman and Shishir at 5 and 6
-Shorif should be dropped; bring Monju back and then if he fails try Forhad again.
Anyway I didn't have any expectation from this tourny. I just want them to beat the Pakis and take revenge for blocking our passage to the semis. The focus should be for next year.
IMO we need a solid pacer, we can choose from Tareq, Talha or Nazmul (I don't think any of them have a future with a BD. And 1 batsmen, I would pick from Tushar, Pilot or Mehrab Sr.
|
Lol this is what I wrote on the BD vs. World match thread, and they listened to all of my points.
Hmm I suspect a BC member is working for ICL.

Defeating India in India is something different. Whatever league it is ICL or IPL or whatever else. ICL India yesterday defeated ICL Pakistan which is almost equivalent to Pakistan national team.
This is a sweet victory for our boys. Well done Dhaka Warriors.

Did anybody notice that Daily star is not covering this news at all. I have not found a single article in today's DS about our victory against ICL india.
Miraz bhai, i totally agree with you. This is a really sweet victory.

Tehsin;
A win is a win is a win. I think the quality is pretty decent for this India ICL team. Look how they played the ICL Pakistan team. I like the competition ICL folks have put together. I hope they make the league more competitive in the coming days.

No offence intended here but this Indian team would not even probably count as an Indian D team. The fact that this Indian team beat a Pakistani team means either that the Pakistan team itself is not in fine shape or that they were plain lucky on Monday. Therefore too much should not be ready into this ICL win.
The performance of the BD team in WC 2007 is more noteworthy. Considering the spate of defeats for the national team, a win here must surely boost the enthusiasm of many Tiger fans. However this boost is a false one. The truth of the matter is that the current BD national team has a good collection of stars who are yet to click together against a major national team. However, we all know that it is only a matter of time before this happens. In the meanwhile the whole world watches in frustration and a flicker of hope. Only the fans can sustain this hope.

My comment was about comparison. I'm happy DW won, they beat the best of the locals ICL selection which has won the competition last year and best the LB team the day before. Kaps is amazing, the body language of the DW team is FAR superior to our national team. I hope they go on to beat LB and take over the World Xi in the final (assuming the World Xi can win the next two matches).
ICL offer great entertainment. However, let's not fool ourselves by comparing a win against ICL India to facing a full fledged SA attack (in ODIs or Tests). I would love to watch a 3-5 match series between DW and BD. It should be interesting and may not be as one-sided as some folks may think.
