Default 'Want to create Bangladesh brand of T20 cricket' - Mahmudullah

Extraordinary wins can galvanise teams. Ask the India 1983 World Cup side, who had been 7 for 78 against Zimbabwe in Tunbridge Wells, before Kapil Dev struck 178 off 135 balls to post a score that proved just a little beyond the opposition. On the back of that victory India would win thrice more, famously beating a formidable West Indies side in the final.

Ryad perhaps save the big talk after you have reached the final.

^It was actually a much down to earth way he responded all the questions, if you really care to watch the video. While he said brand, he actually pointed out the weakness of not having hard hitters so focus more on reducing dots to compensate that.

So is the Bd brand of t20 conceding as many runs as possible and then chasing those runs?

What's wrong with what he said? He acknowledged the lack of power hitters in the team and said they want to play with their own style now, perfectly fine

Nothing necessarily wrong with what he said. Seems like he's saying that we lack power hitters so we should play smart i.e. take calculative shots, etc.

this approach is great for ODI and Test, but doesnt work in T20s. You need power hitters, particularly down the order. Basically the team is saying based on the players we have, this is the best approach.

So the question is why do we need to limit ourselves to these players? If the current players arent right for the format, why try to fit them in? Why not find the players who are right for the format. Ok so we don't have that yet, so why not groom them?

WC is in 2020, we have the time to find the right players. But no, we would rather hold on to the same players and go against the trends that's tried and true for all the other countries.

You need power hitters and you need to minimize dot balls.. its not either this or that... its both. "Bangladeshi brand" of T20 sounds good, but in realty there is no room for that if you want constant success.

If the current team is not capable of providing the much needed punch and minimize dot balls, may be they are the wrong set of players for T20 format. Its much better approach to recognize that, cut loss and work hard finding out other promising players who can provide both in future with experience.

Its better to invest on young players like Litton (for example) who are young talented and fearless. Atleast they provide hope.

Like most Bangladeshi brands, it will be an inferior knockoff that won't measure up to international quality, but will be mass consumed nonetheless.

Bangladesh brand of T20 cricket: the Bata sandal of cricket.

I think Bangladesh makes some of the best shirts...the one that I'm currently wearing was made in Bangladesh.

nothing wrong with what he said... but no brand of T20 cricket should have 50+ dot balls. Dont have power hitters? Thats fine! India barely has any and yet they are one of the best teams out there. They rotate strikes well, pace their innings according to the conditions and utilize on every bad delivery.

It didnt take a lot of power hitting to chase down 214 for us. In the age of aggressive cricket and giant edge bats, not scoring 170+ constantly is a crime.

This is the sandal brand of cricket. Not those expensive sandals either, the cheap 1 dollar ones.

Whenever they speak out stuff with confidence. It normally hunts them back. Although he said nothing wrong. Just wanting a brand that suits the team and why not what he said? It may be a desi old fashioned think to be modest because the big brothers dont like you being upbeat and confident about yourself and your thing because to them it ‘seems arrogance/cockiness’. Well it’s 2018, and Dullah too is entitled to having freedom of speech. Not sure why some outsiders get hurt by what a BD players say. If it does hurt them, GOOD. I’m glad it did more misery on haters.

Basically saying he wants a team full of Babar Azam’s and Kane Williamson’s? Well that style but not their consistency I suppose...look people get a bit over the top with power hitting, if a Babar azam can average around 30-40 in t20s with a strike rate of around 120-130 or over then why does he need power hitting? I’ve seen Babar score at 150/160/170 strike rate.

As long as you are scoring runs at a good clip why does it matter how you are doing it?

Bangladesh already has an established brand of cricket:
- Batting T20s in ODI mode
- Batting ODI in Test mode
- Batting Tests in T20 mode
- Bowling bouncers which always end up behind the boundary
- Doing OTT celebrations

Also the brand requires players to mutiny against pragmatic coaches! and the brand focuses on selection committee of selecting non sense players!

What we need to do is change this brand of pathetic and helpless cricket
