In case someone missed it: I am reposting the latest news in this thread as well.
Breaking news: The punishments is going to be reduced. শাস্তি কমছে সাকিবের সব শাস্তি হয়তো তুলে নেওয়া হবে না। তবে শাস্তি কিছুটা কমে আসবে সাকিব আল হাসানের। কাল রাতে মুঠোফোনে এই আভাস দিয়েছেন স্বয়ং বাংলাদেশ ক্রিকেট বোর্ড (বিসিবি) সভাপতি নাজমুল হাসান। শৃঙ্খলা ভঙ্গের বেশ কয়েকটি ঘটনা তুলে ধরে ৭ জুলাই সাকিবকে ছয় মাসের জন্য সব ধরনের ক্রিকেট থেকে বহিষ্কার করে বিসিবি। সঙ্গে এটাও জানিয়ে দেওয়া হয়—২০১৫ সালের ৩১ ডিসেম্বর পর্যন্ত তাঁকে বিদেশে কোনো লিগ খেলার জন্য অনাপত্তিপত্র দেওয়া হবে না। সাকিবের সে শাস্তি বিসিবি হুট করেই কমানোর সিদ্ধান্ত নিচ্ছে, ব্যাপারটা তা নয়। আসলে গত পরশু বিসিবির কাছ থেকে শাস্তির সিদ্ধান্ত আনুষ্ঠানিকভাবে জানার পর কাল দুপুরে বোর্ড সভাপতি নাজমুল হাসানের সঙ্গে তাঁর ধানমন্ডির কার্যালয়ে দেখা করেছেন সাকিব। সন্ধ্যায় বোর্ড সভাপতি মুঠোফোনে প্রথম আলোকে জানিয়েছেন, ‘সাকিব আমার সঙ্গে দেখা করে জানতে চেয়েছে আপিল করবে কি না। আমি বলেছি, আপিল করার সুযোগ তার আছে। এরপর বোর্ডের যদি মনে হয় সে যথেষ্ট অনুতপ্ত এবং ভবিষ্যতে আর এ রকম করবে না, তাহলে তার শাস্তি কমতেও পারে।’ একটি সূত্রে জানা গেছে, সভাপতির সবুজসংকেত পাওয়ায় দু–এক দিনের মধ্যেই সাকিব বোর্ডের কাছে শাস্তি মওকুফ বা কমানোর আবেদন করবেন। এ ব্যাপারে জানতে কাল রাতে মুঠোফোনে যোগাযোগের চেষ্টা করা হলেও সাকিব ফোন ধরেননি। শাস্তি চলাকালে সাকিব যেন অনুশীলন চালিয়ে যেতে পারেন, সে উদ্যোগ আগেই নিয়েছেন বিসিবি সভাপতি। কোচ চন্ডিকা হাথুরুসিংহেকে বার্তা দিয়েছেন, সাকিবের জন্য যেন আলাদা একটি অনুশীলন পরিকল্পনা করে দেওয়া হয়। কাল সাকিব সশরীরে দেখা করে কৃত ভুলের জন্য দুঃখ প্রকাশ করলে নাজমুল হাসানের মন তাঁর জন্য আরেকটু নরম হয়েছে বলেই মনে হলো, ‘সে আমার কাছে ভুলগুলো স্বীকার করেছে। বলেছে অনেক ভুলত্রুটিই তার অগোচরে হয়ে গেছে। পরে বুঝেছে সেগুলো করা উচিত হয়নি। আমারও মনে হয়েছে সাকিব অনুতপ্ত।’ তবে সাকিবকে শাস্তি কমানোর শর্তের কথা আরও একবার মনে করিয়ে দিয়েছেন সভাপতি, ‘আমি বলেছি, বল এখন তোমার কোর্টে। প্রমাণ করো তুমি আর এ রকম করবে না। তাহলে বোর্ড বিষয়টা বিবেচনা করে দেখবে। সাকিব ভালো খেলোয়াড়। আমরা চাই না সে দলের বাইরে থাকুক। বাংলাদেশ দল খেলতে নামছে, অথচ সাকিব নেই—এটা দেখতে আমাদেরও ভালো লাগে না।’ আপিল করলেই যে সাকিবের শাস্তি অনেকটা কমে যাবে, তা নয়। ফেরার সম্ভাবনা নেই ওয়েস্ট ইন্ডিজ সিরিজের আগে। নাজমুল হাসান বরং বলেছেন, ‘শাস্তি কমলেও সেটা আহামরি পর্যায়ের কমবে না। বাংলাদেশ দলে শৃঙ্খলা না-মানা আরও কয়েকজন খেলোয়াড় আছে। সাকিবের মাধ্যমে আমরা তাদেরও বার্তা দিতে চাই।’ জাতীয় দল ব্যবস্থাপনা নিয়ে আজ হাথুরুসিংহের সঙ্গে আলোচনায় বসার কথা বোর্ড সভাপতির। সেখানেও অবধারিতভাবে উঠে আসবে সাকিবের শাস্তি কমানোর প্রসঙ্গ। নাজমুল হাসান নিজেই বলেছেন, ‘কোচের সঙ্গেও আমি বিষয়টা নিয়ে আলাপ করব। তাঁর মতামত জানতে চাইব।’ Link

One of them, according to Yunus, is for a commercial breach on Shakib's behalf. "Sahara complained to us that Shakib posed for a billboard ad wearing a BCB jersey but without their logo. He has broken the rule doing this. Shakib actually didn't ask for the board's permission while doing this ad. ^ Very good observation by Fazal. Icon players like Shakib should have a professional sports agent. He is dealing with too many things around him, and obviously things will slip. Not that I support his ban, on contrary I am completely against it, in fact I don't think he deserve any punishment considering so many other get away with so much, such as Tamim. I do believe he needs a very good agent to help him out and manage his finances, contracts, etc.
And yes, Shakib should stay with better side of BCB and his directors, by being politically correct. Thats how you survive in our country. But then again, I can be wrong, as Ash could not escape his ban although he was in very good terms with most BCB directors.... Ever since Papon took over I dont hear any good news...

What i should really say is proper cricketing criticism should come from Coaches and senior players with a great track record, who understand the game properly. we fans just say whatever we want to vent frustration
 ... even then the criticism should be to the point where the player can improve with it, not be overwhelmed with it and forgetting even the basic things in life.

it's becoming more and more confusing, one thing for sure, the punishment will be reduced,
but what made BCB feel that they also want the punishment to be reduced? Did they all of a sudden realize that Sakib is very important for the team or Did BCB realize the punishment was too harsh? or The media and people put pressure on BCB? or Is it all about some financial issue as T_eye bhai shared?
