But congratulations on reaching 1000 posts, regardless!

Zimb team arrived from SA after finishing their practice matches. There strength is not bad at all, also played well. Their batting was very productive and also managed a good fight back with SA academy team.

I don't see any reason for BD should not be serious about it. There will be nail bitting contest.

Can't imagine match-thread going to my second page before the match got started. This needs a bump before someone opens up a duplicate thread.

Bangladeshi papers said the wicket will be hard, bouncy, and without grass- very much batting wicket. I don't see any point of sending Gullu to open. Why don't the management try Rafique or Mashrafe as a pinch hitter in this match ?

Here is my prediction for the Zimbabwe team-

Sibanda
Chibhabha
Rinke
Masakadza
Taylor
Matsikenyeri
Chigumbura
Utseya
Mupariwa
Higgins
Rainsford

Unless Masakadza does not play in this match, I don't see a spot for Duffin.

it may sound stupid but how about sending ash to open, if he clicks we will have a good total & if he fails, we have golla to stop collaps

The thing is that the quality of the Zim spinners (Utseya, Higgins) are better than their pacers. Those guys are effective in choking the run rate and thus creating pressure on the opposition. Since Ash is our best player against spin, I think we should save him for those guys.

On the otherhand, Mortaza and Aftab are good enough to destroy mediocre Zim pacers on this kind of flat pitch, and I don't see any reason why they should not be sent earlier.

If we get a blasting start, we can consider sending Mashrafi at the upper order to keep the tempo going...he has got really good shots at hand and I think we should utilize him better in terms of pinch-hitting...

Its been a long time I wrote anything but do read the threads everyday. Anyway, I think BD shud be professional and do their role like batsmen making run and bowlers taking wks. This is the 1st match and we MUST win it. They shud not worry abt blusting ZIM away or something.

GO BD

DesiCricket.net will be showing it for 9.99 (all ODIs) but it is only 80% confirmed. It might be 331 kbps stream, 200 kbps, or only audio! Stay tuned

It is not about being professional or unprofessional. If it is truly a tokta wicket, bowlers of both sides will struggle, more or less. Mind you Zim has few good hitters in Rinke, Masakadza, and Chigumbura. So, it is a matter of strategy that we milk their pacers as much as possible and post a safe total of 270-280 (in the scenario where Bashar wins the toss and elect to bat first, which he does with amazaing frequency).

@TheWatcher, to make 270/280 runs doesn't mean u have to send Mash or Rafique in the top. If BD can keep wks (like 7/8) around 40 overs and score 160 runs @4.00 rr, they can still make another 100 runs in the 10 overs. All I am saying that winning first game is a MUST and BD shud play a bit cautiously - that's all.
