Facebook inaccessible in Bangladesh

Facebook has become inaccessible to Bangladeshi users.

The hugely popular social networking site became inaccessible to users since 10.45pm on Wednesday.

International Internet Gateway operator Mango Teleservice managing director Mir Masud Kabir told bdnews24.com that the problem had nothing to do with Bangladesh authorities. "This is actually a problem of the Facebook authorities."

More than 400m people worldwide use this social networking site. Bangladeshis account for just over 875,000 among them.

The government had blocked this site earlier this year on May 29.

The move had been taken upon the request of elite crime busters RAB, a BTRC official had told bdnews24.com at that time.

Facebookers generally use this networking site to share personal details with friends.

I was on facebook past 5 min. No problem for me. Plus I posted on my friend's wall 3 hours ago. No problem then.

haire... only 2 hours outage and everyone went to panic mode... gives me a business idea to open a backup facebook that will feed you with fake updates from your friends while facebook is down.... kind of like a facebook withdrawal treatment...
