Default Mehedi Hasan Miraz TEST/ODI captain?

Test:

http://stats.espncricinfo.com/ci/con...ds/283416.html

The youngest test captain per the list above was only 20 years old. Would it be wrong to make Mehedi Hasan Miraz the test captain?

My view:

No. Give him the captaincy. Let him develop his team, and let him grow with his team. The likes of Mosaddek, Sabbir, Soumya, Fizz are all relatively young and respects Mehedi. Let him be the captain and build our test dominance with those players.

ODI:

Needs to be picked very soon, he is the default captain to replace Mashrafe. Let him take over, and groom his team.. his views, his thinking.. etc.. I think his very close to ODI call up. I can't see anyone else being made the captain after Mashrafe retires.

I don't think so he can control the senior player ATM but BCB might consider him only for test after senior players (tamim , mushy , shak etc) retired.
To me Somoyo or Sabbir might be selected for next Odi captain.

Yeah I think sabbir could be in line down the track, especially in the shorter formats.

For mehedi it's to soon, he still hasn't secured his spot in the test team imo, he's on his way but he's not there yet.

Either ODI or Test.

Sabbir as T20 captain? Maybe.. good option. but what's his credential as captain in domestic?

Sabbir as ODI captain? no. I think Mehedi will get it.. and his credentials as captain is very high..

I'm sorry but if basing off credentials mehedi has no credentials yet in international cricket or domestic, sabbir at least has some decent short format international experience to date, mehedi hasn't even played a t20I or a ODI so how can he be considered to captain those formats?

He will play soon. IA.
HC is a clever coach, wants Mehedi to focus on test first, before he unleash him in ODI/T20.

He will soon make the team. very soon.

They will get him in ODI team under Mashrafe's captaincy for sure.

I'm sure he will at some stage. what I'm saying is you can't say sabbir can't captain because he has no credentials when mehedi himself has none.

Mehedi has captaincy experience, U-19. Not sure if Sabbir has any. That's my point.

Sorry but u19 experience doesn't mean much once you hit test, ODI, and T20I level.

Btw sabbir has also captained at u19 level.

Don't think Mashrafe will retire in the next one year or two. Mehedi has enough time to build his shorter format captaincy experience. Recently heard that he might be included in the emerging cup squad, if he does, hopefully he will be the captain.

your having a good laugh if you think Miraz is going to get captaincy any time soon especially with the core group of Tamim, Mushy, Shakib still playing. Maybe when they retire then Miraz will have a chance of captaincy but for the time being no way.

Btw sabbir has also captained the BCB xi, may have also captained some domestic teams but not sure.

I think Miraz will wait to be captain, but we may see new captains soon. Mash might retire in the next couple of years, mushy may get the captaincy chop in tests but I'd expect more experienced players than miraz to be in line for captaincy if these scenarios are to occur anytime soon.

Is this a joke? He hasn't even secured his place in the team with consistent performance.

Nobody mentioned this here, he was the captain of U-15, U-17 and lastly the U-19 team. Never before has a player come into the national team with such captaincy records. Not only was he captain of all the teams he played but he was touted as the next Mashrafe because of his character and personality. Never before has a player been groomed so much just for captaincy from our system. He came with an average of 40 in first class, he took the most wickets in U-19 level, you call call his records almost perfect. He enjoys responsiblity and the fact that he captained U15 and U17 tells you that he is special, because you have many players captaining U19 like Mushy, Shabbir, Mosaddek and now Saif but only one has captained all 3.

I had a chuckle picturing Miraz as captain ordering Shakib, Rahim, Tamim and Riyad

Miraz as the captain of national team. That kid was the captain of U19 and I thought when I will get old I will see such cricketers to lead us. Well I think I am old now.. a generation has passed away..
