Getting to coach your own country as THE head coach vs coaching in a sub-continental (non-Western) country as an Assistant. Seriously, even BCB can't fight that. There are some things money can't buy.
But yes BCB is sitting on its rear end in terms of A team and other initiatives and definitely good at getting its officials involved in tours.

Let's be honest.
Heath had the opportunity to coach his country's national team as the head coach.
It's difficult to live in Bangladesh. The traffic, lack of facilities is not great.

Lets not forget the mess the current BCB regime had to start with. I think they ve done fairly well. A coach staying for a long period, or a strategy being implemented over long period of time is not very common in Bangladeshi sports. And even in Hathurusingha's stint, there was a time when Naimur Rahman went after the coach, was also a time when the coach took a lot of stick regarding the new selection system. But Mr. Nazmul Hasan has been sensible in dealing with these issues, keeping the country's cricket first, politics second. And when tough measures needed to be taken these guys did.
Not to mention we ve got some very good coaches along with Hathurusingha. Simon Helmott was a great capture for HP. Our current Under 19 coach also happens to be a former Big Bash head coach.
But things could have been a lot better, had they been more proactive with academy and Under 19 much earlier. We would have reaped benefits now. Also the lack of A team is a big problem. Practically no bridge or vehicle for the likes of Shahriar Nafees to suggest they deserve a place in the NT.
BCB can also do a lot better in bowling. By now should have had a spin coach. And pretty much convinced Walsh is not the right person for us.

These guys have nothing to defend themselves with. Are you telling me for nearly two years they couldn't arrange any A team tours with Zimbabwe, Ireland, Afghanistan? Please! Not only that they have no focus on our U-19 team! These are bloody serious concerns. They play the stupid card like Oh our boys won't improve playing A tour tours with Zimbabwe, Ireland etc, utter nonsense.

Playing regular matches does a lot of good, sitting out doesn't. Even when there is no international fixtures , it is the duty of the board to arrange academy and A team tours to test the bench strength. Zimbabwe played back to back series in recent times. Though they lost the previous ones, this time they have taken the series from Sri Lanka.
