This Worldcup is in Europe. So if we go by the history then any european country or Brazil would be champ. I would think the host Germany is the favorites; just because they are at home.

Brasil have a great team:
Dida
Cafu--Lucio--Juan--R.Carlos
Kaka--Edmilson--Emerson--ZèRoberto
Ronaldo/Adriano--Ronaldinho

Sort of "all stars" team, they are obviously favourites.
About the others: Argentina are 2nd fav., Holland are talented but too young, England never perform well far from home, Italy have a solid defense and Germany are host team and usually die-hard fighters but this time they really look not good enough!

Brazil of course. I've always supported them but I was really upset when France ***** won in 98.. then Senegal kicked their a$$ in the last WC and Brazil won again, it was ecstasic!!

although England is my 2nd choice, since I live here & support the greatest English football club (Man Utd)

They were strong in 1998 and 1982 as well. Still they didnt win. Italy, England, Spain and Argentina can all beat Brazil on their day.

If Brazil considered then thread title needed to be changed. Brazil is the reigning champion so new should not be there. For those brazilian supporter news is not so rosy at its seems.

mate...every rose has its thorne..but inspite...it is still a rose...
it would be a miracle of grandeur proportion for brazil not to retain the wc
Brazil can only LOOSE their supremecy, not any other team winning it....

Argentina has some good options here... Riquelme, Aimar (if recovered from his meningitis), D Allesandro in the midfield, Messi, crespo in the front are all rearing to go...

Think Messi flying in his crosses from the right for Crespo to finish them off... Sheer beauty...

Best part of Argentina is, they are not so hyped up to win the Cup this time... but albeit they have a excellent team... so I have my hopes high...

Another team to make an impact is the ever-promising-never-performing Spain.
They have a very good team (Reyes, Febergas, Xabi Alonso, Raul, Morientes, Villa, Guti and not to mention Casillas between the post) and I sincerely hope they perform to their potential. Unless there is a shameless FIFA intervention to oust Spain like they did last time, Spain shud go a long way this time.

Brazil defence was never good... Not before, not now... not in the future... Brazil doesnt play that kind of football... They have defenders who play midfield, midfielders who play forwards and forwards, well ummmm they are just weird and fat.

Brazil all the way.... they shud clinch their 6th title with ease...

with his current form, Ronaldinho will surely win the Golden boot, ball (and everythin else thats awarded)

Although I am a Brazilian fan, I feel really bad for Italy & Spain. So much talent in these sides but for some strange reason they always let their fans down.

Its kind of difficult to have any constructive discussions here given that many posters are intent on simply saying, "Brazil is the best, they will easily win the World Cup" etc. without giving any reason apart from mechanically repeating, 'they are the best, they are the best".

Wake up, the outright favorites have not won the Cup since 1990!
The favorites in 02 were France and Argentina. This time its Brazil, but given that the Cup is in Europe , i doubt they will win it.

Spain and France both have pretty strong squads this time along with England.
