Default Mark O'Neill to replace Samaraweera as BD Batting Coach

Source: http://www.bdcrictime.com/2017/07/bc...ng-consultant/

Mark O'Neill was batting coach for NZ and Middlesex County, and NSW cricket team. He didnt play int'l cricket but has been mentor to Watson, Haddin and few others.
Interesting interview on youtube:

Mark O Neill seems to a very highly regarded coach who has done plenty of work behind the scenes.

According to article below, Gilchrist rates him as the best batting coach he has come across.

Could be a good move. Samarweera was a student coach, still learning, first real assignment. This guys an absolute pro who has worked in three countries and with the very best in the business from several generations.

Any news on Walsh? Or his legendary status will keep him in the job?

Problem is they gave him a long term contract. Only option is him quitting, or sacking him.

Samaraweera was incremental short term contracts. So its a case of not renewing

Mark O' Neil is a very experienced guy. It would be great if he can work with the younger players.

Cricketers doesn't like Samaraweera. I heard during chapmpions trophy that batsmen gave negative feedback about him to bcb.

Goru petayee ki manush kora jai?

You can bring the best coached in the world, but if the mentality is "I am not going to change the way I play" nothing much will change.

Great coaches change mentality if need be

Look at siddons, he overhauled our batting

True. I consider Siddons as the benchmark for a batting coach. If Mark can do half as good a job as him at least, and I will be sold.

It takes two to Tango.

You need a good coach as well as you need eager /flexible student to learn.

New coach should concentrate on number 3 position. He should try mushy or shakib at no. 3.
