Default Bangladesh = Most disciplined bowling unit at 2015 World Cup

We've long been one of the better teams in this regard, we usually don't give away too many extras in limited overs. So probably not totally a coaching achievement, but well done to Heath Streak and of course all the bowlers!

Quote:
Well, Bangladesh was the most disciplined team in the World Cup. They bowled only 23 no-balls and four wides. This works to a mere 1.78% of the runs scored by the facing teams and an average of 4.5 Wd/Nb per match. This is extraordinary discipline. All credit to Heath Streak and Chandika Hathurasinghe. England, something to cheer for, follows next with 2.3% and 5.2. Australia and South Africa are in the middle, may be because their bowlers strove hard.
Zimbabwe confirm that they have been the worst bowling team in the World Cup, with figures of 5.2% of runs scored and an average of 16 Nbs/Wds per match. West Indies are also quite poor, with figures of 4.5% and 12.1.

All this is good but fielders need to back up the bowlers. Without holding on to the catches and getting wickets, we can't win consistently.

I think we were the worst fielding units among the 14 teams which is very shocking. We use to be decent even with half players like Raj, HB.

As for WI, they never cared about discipline bowling. Never. In their haydays, most of the time Extras would be among the top 3 scorers. Remember back then the wides weren't called like nowadays.

That's a wonderful achievement indeed.

If we can hold on the catches, we would be a fantastic fielding side

Good job bowlers. Keep it up.

Heath Streak, the bowling coach, deserves credit for this.

Fielding has improved, can get better. Fielders have to back the bowlers up, that way bowler can get more confident in his bowling too.

I think Wd/Nb per over bowled should be the correct measure. Anyway, progress and congrats to Streak!

we might be disciplined in terms of not bowling wides and no balls but i feel we aren't disciplined enough in terms of pitching the ball in the right areas.

I feel that our death bowling is not upto the mark. Need to be able to land the yorkers more efficiently.

Also needs to kept in mind that being discplined doesn't really matter too much. IMHO, what really matters is being able to get the breakthroughs. Out attack needs to be more threatening. Also fielders need to support the bowlers too. We fielded well except at the MCG where we played 2 matches both where we fielded poorly.

Only 4 wides in the whole tournament? Really? It doesn't sound right.

I just say someone in one of the IPL matches giving away 4 wides in one over!

The amount of NBs seems quite high too

Ita besh bhala kaam korse amrar fuwaintey. Kintu ita sustain kora lagbo. The need of the hour is consistency, talent exists in the team. What is required is consistent delivering when called upon. Ekjon bhaisab e jela koila, fielders need to back up the bowlers better. Even decently good bowlers become deadly when they have good fielders backing them up. Yorker, Bouncer, Reverse swing ita practice kora lagbo, hope the bowling coaches take heed and prepare specific plan of actions against specific batsmen. I feel BD is also missing a quality spinner, this may bite us badly even in subcontinent conditions.

Of course not. During the world cup I realized that BD were no more a mere pawn in the game of power by India. No more only a disgrace. But a soon to be dominant ODI force at home maybe.

It doesn't come overnight. Consider the lack of experience of Bangladesh bowlers in Aussie environment and pitches.

pitching balls in right areas isn't to do with conditions.

You are right. When you try to be effective by bowling in those right areas, you stray and statistically that would be called indisciplined bowling.

What we did was "Defensive Bowling" that's why statistically AF calls it disciplined bowling nothing wrong though
