Default Injury curse continues

make your own judgements on gloster, and how it can be possible that they find a fracture a month after the WC - what were they doing in between ?

from the DS:

Talha out of action

Sports Reporter

Bangladesh paceman Talha Jubair has been ruled out of the TVS Cup squad because of a hairline fracture on his left ankle.

Talha, the 19-year-old right arm bowler had suffered the injury during Bangladesh's last World Cup match against Kenya in South Africa last month.

As X-rays initially suggested that there was no damage, Talha continued to train with Bangladesh team. But the young bowler was still in pain so he underwent a bone scan on Tuesday.

The scan report confirmed that he had a hairline fracture, which will require at least three weeks to heal.

Talking to The Daily Star Sport yesterday, a dejected Talha said that the pain never left him.

The scan findings suggest that team physio John Gloster was unaware about the extent of damage on Talha's ankle and was slow to react.

The injury of Jubair is just another example of mistreatment of promising fast bowlers by the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB). The country's quickest bowler Mashrafee-bin-Mortuza has also suffered recurrent injury nightmares due to the BCB's indifference.

Mashrafee was sidelined for nearly a year after breaking down in New Zealand in December 2001. He managed to make a comeback in the World Cup. But again he had the misfortune of getting injured in the middle of the mega event.
