Default Will BD ever win the world cup?

I have been watching every World cup since 1999 and every time BD cause an upset just like every other BD fan I get excited as well but then we get humiliated by shocking performances like 58 runs all out or 78 runs all out like in this world cup. Will we be able to win the World cup or even get to the final in our lifetime?

Yes, Bangladesh will win a World Cup soon. But to have expected a team of this quality and temperament still in the process of development (remember Bangadesh has a cricket team that improves slower than the others) to give huge results is totally unrealistic on the part of the fans.

First they need to consistently win series in both Tests and ODI to make an imprint. Tell them to do that
first then we will talk.

Sri lanka won the world cup in 15 years after given test status and we have been given test status 11 years ago and still haven't even made Semi final and we lost disgustingly to a low ranked team like West indies and South africa B team

If the question is ever, of course BD will win the world. May be within 4 years, 40 years or 400 years... I am certain of that...

For us to win the worldcup a lot of things has to change:
i) Education: lack of cricketing knowledge I think is a key reason for our players having such a low learning curve. You listen to cricketers like Sangakara, youngster like Broad or Dhoni..they all sound like they know the game much better than our lads. Why do our guys need to be told what to do while youngsters from England, South Africa, India seem to know these things. The only thing i can think of is education.

ii) Infrastructure: We need better facilities, pacer friendly pitches and we need good coaches at the youth level. We need more investment from our Cricket Board. Rather than having three level III specialist coaches at the top level i would rather have 5 level II coaches in our youth system so that by the time they arrive in the national side...the basic skills are already there.

iii) Standard of Domestic League: As long as players like Farhad Reza are amongst the top wicket takers we can say that our domestic league standard is no good. Too often a crap player from Pakistan scores a gazzilion runs in our competition. We need to be better than this.

iv) Capability of the Youth Sides: The biggest indication of our chances of winning the Worldcup would come if we can win the U-19 worldcup. If our younger generation cannot do it against the younger generation of other countries than we cannot realistically expect our National side ever will.

Yes Bd will win world cup.It also depends on luck. Not necessary to be a favourite or strong team to win the world cup.World cup all about performing well under pressure and sometime luck favours .If you do one mistake, your gone.

Don't compare the two countries. There is no rule that a country should win a World Cup within a such a period. If that's the case what about England with more than a century of test cricket history ?
Well Sri Lanka deserved to be playing tests well before 1982, they actually got it very late. If you know the names of Mahadeva Sathasivam, Micheal Tissera, Anura Tennakoon and the Gunasekaras all were world class players some playing even for English counties and won the praise of the best players of that time. But none of them were lucky enough to play tests.
But Bangladesh didn't derserve to be playing test cricket when it got it on a platter.
It was given test status only in the hope that more exposure to bigger teams will lift them quickly. That is happenning gradually. Until they reach that level fans must be realistiacally enthusiastic about their cricket.

At least forget about the next one (2015). It's gonna be held in Aus & NZ where you'll only find bouncy pitches!

If anything had to happen, this WC was the best opportunity for us to bring out something good. I'm not saying we could have won the WC, but at least QFs or even SFs were pretty much on the cards.

Definitely NO, If England, NZ, and South Africa with better infrastructure and years of playing cricket has not won it as yet, how does BD ever stand a chance? Also, let,s face it, they have better trained cricketers and are always finding new and better cricketers.
When the day comes that they win a Test series against one of the top teams, then they can dream.

Not before 2023, because the next two World Cups will be held in Aus/NZ and England. But then again, by 2023 we may not have the 50-over game any more. So, winning the Twenty20 WC might be our best bet.

Given that "ever" stretches to infinity, I am confidently willing to bet that YES, we will win a world cup.
