And what happens if I firmly believe that I alone control my fate through my actions, the fate that my Maker decides what is in store for me? in other words I dont believe that someone else can afflict me with their black magic? Shouldn't denial and refusal to believe in black magic render it useless?

I reference pointers to Islam in Bangla Cricket to generally help people in this life and the afterlife not hurt them....

This is just my way of encouraging people to discover the Qur'an. I will not personally benefit directly(unless Allah wills), but it is rather for the people to benefit themselves!

As a muslim, if you deny the existance of black magic, you will deny the qur'an: as Allah confirms the existance of such forces in the very last two surahs(Nas and Falaq) and also in surah bakarah ayah number 102.( angels Haroot and maroot)

However, Black magic's worst enemy: AN ACCEPTED REPENTANCE TO ALLAH!

There are two types of Fate according to Islam:

*) The predestined fate(i.e. birth, death, marriage, provisions and life span(you have absolutely no control over this matter)) and

**) The fate which hangs(variable fate...{you have control over this...well to a certain extent} kind of like and if-else statement in programming languages...)

May Allah find someone who is more knowledgeabe than me to correct this post!

well, as it is stated a bazillion times in the qur'an:

InnAllaha A'la kulli shaeen Qadir!

Indeed Allah has control over all affairs...so the fact that "Black Magic" occurs is also under his control!

sometimes in life you get upset? right? do you have control over your emotions? so you have total control over your thoughts? do you know what you will think in the next hour?
is there any guarantee?

No guarantee. sabr is the most important virtue when angry. And more than anything else... Dhikr helps, in any form. Maybe to face black magic you recite the Quran's verses as Dhikr, whereas I may simply remember Allah and seek His guidance and mercy.

All I'm saying is that Black Magic while true, is probably something I'd least associate any problem with. Having grown up in a very rational society, family and environment, Black magic really is the last thing to ever cross my mind. We all take responsibility for our own actions. What happens then as a result? Is my faith so weak that Allah won't help me rationally tackle my problems, unless I read out certain verses? Or will my intellect, self-control and ability to control my actions work?

The reason I'm debating with you on this is because many people astound me with their conviction that black magic and the evil eye afflicts them. Such an excuse is incredibly fatalistic, like saying natural calamities are God's punishment on us and so we must suffer, instead of preparing for them! Did Allah not give us any 'aql' and free will to change our fate?!

Default Surah Nas Translation

According to hadith it's best recite two surahs to prevent evil eye and receive protection from Shaitan.

Aisha reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, would get ready for sleep, he would blow into his hands, recite the two chapters of refuge (surah al-falaq and surah an-nas), and he would wipe his hands over his body.

Reference : Sahih al-Bukhari 6319 In-book reference : Book 80, Hadith 16

Uqbah ibn Amr Al-Juhani reported: The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “Allah has revealed verses the like of which you have never seen: Say, I seek refuge in the Lord of the people(114:1) and: Say, I seek refuge in the Lord of the daybreak.” (113:1)

Here's where you can read Surah Falaq with translation and transliteration:

There's Youtube video for these two surahs from Quran as well

Usually a spell by a wizard would eliminate the dark magic of the dark forces...dark matter, ie, dark energy.

Some cricketers believe certain bats are lucky for them, as a student I used to always wear the same shirt for every exam (During A levels). Few years back my mother believed that my niece got sick because of an evil eye (since she was a very cute 1 year old and everyone praised her look).

Fact remains that you are free to believe what you want (long as you are not harming anyone), but please do not force your BS onto others. Barcelona fans have been casting an evil eye on Ronaldo and Real Madrid fans been casting an evil eye on Messi for more than a decade now.. Guess what, they dont need Surah's and White magic to protect them.
