Default Hall Of Fame: BD Cricket

Based on a lot of threads out there it might be nice to see who should be considered for the BD cricket hall of fame.

Lets see who you think belongs on this list. Please keep in mind that the contribution of these players must be extremely significant and should be names that will most likely be remembered to BD cricket fans long after they are gone.

I'll start with some obvious names:

Habibul Bashar
Pilot
Rafique
Ashraful (As much as I want him away from the team now, his role in BD cricket cannot be disputed)
Shakib (purely for the reason he was the captain & man of the series in our first significant series win/whitewash. Not to take away from the ZIM series win)

I think Enamul Jr. and SN have had glory time periods but I wouldn't qualify them as HOF material.

That'll probably be it, unless you include pre test status playeers, but I dun't know much about those.

Bashar uncle is definitely the best test batsman that Bangladesh has ever produced. Pilot and Rafique deserve to be there for their heroics in the first drawn test overseas and for the numerous occasions they have saved our sorry behinds.

The rest are too young to make it to the list.

Bashar is the best in Test so far. Just look how many 100+ runs partnership he was in.

Thats the reason I put the explanations for Ash and Shakib.

Afterall, Ash is still the youngest test centurion and has been MOM in some of our significant wins (AUS, SA) and for a while the representative name of BD cricket to the international world.

Shakib is probably a little to early but his stamp in the recent series with WI does allow for a case for him.

I am not too familar with the names from the 97 to 04 period so I don't know if anyone has contributions that were above the rest.

There were contributions even prior to that that come to mind. For example, once could mention Akram Khan for leading the team to an ICC trophy win.

Between '97 and '04, one could mention Buli buli for his 145 against India. However, while those were good accomplishments, they are hardly Hall-of-Fame-able.

Hall of fame entry is that easy for one or two knocks or spell? You have to back stats up with.
Actually those who has retired should only be in contention.

HB in. Mr. Fifty.
MRafique in. Mr. 100 and 1000.
KMasud in. 200+ dismissals in Intl cricket.
+++
Ash can only be considered if he retires for his multiple 100s.

Akram is healthier than any other Bangladeshi International cricketers. J Just kidding besides that inningis he has won us other matches in ICC. In 3 ICC Trophy tournaments, he scored 476 runs at an average of 36.61. Besides, he was the captain. I think his overall contribution makes him a candidate.
Habibul Bashar, Pilot, Rafique, Bulbul, Akram, Ashraful

I would like to throw in Roqibul Hassan as a candidate - too bad he never had the chance to play Tests. Bulbul deserves to be in the hall of fame too.

Here are some Roqibul Hassan related articles. Ypu can find more from the history section of BC.

Yep. Only after retirement one should be considered.

Zunaid bhai already mentioned Raqibul Hasan. He surely deserves it. Hall must include players from all era who has made significant contribution to our cricket. R.C Gowala, for his longevity, also deserve a look. Notable mentions: Yusuf Babu, Jahangir Shah.

Well bangladesh played cricket before Test status. The players whose performances brought us our test status should not be forgotten.

At least I'm not forgetting them. I was a regular spectator of BD cricket irrespective of the opponent. Starting back in 1991/92 I haven't miss almost every important BD match at BNS.

I've grown up watching them playing. We had a group. We even used to follow Dhaka league matches too.

We used to dream for the kind of players to perform for BD team which current BD team is having. Yes Shakib, Ash, Mash even Rubel are the kind of players who were dream players at that time.

BD cricket has grown up a lot.

Following the criteria that players must be retired to be considered for this honour then these would be my choices:
Aminul Islam
Habibul Bashar
Khaled Mashud
Mohammad Rafique

If it is BD cricket Hall of Fame, not BD Test cricket HOF;

Please start HOF with all the 11 that brought us the opportunity of test cricket, ICC champ team. Irrespective of their abilities in comparison to current cricketers. They are like the foundation of a building. Can't ignore who laid the foundation.

My favorite is ChaCha. he played with his brain. But unfortunately he didn't have enough skill to make a parmamnet dent in fans memory or in Stats sheet.
