Good appointment, with the World Cup coming up its good to have an Englishman with us who knows the conditions well. He is also known for his talent spotting skills so hopefully he can find someone in the domestic circuit instead of overusing the same failing players. Its funny how 50% people on the ESPN cricinfo article voted that 'he was too much of an unknown' to take this role. So was Hathurusingha and he was the best coach BD ever had. Lets just back him and hope Gary Kirsten has done us a great favour with this recommendation.

this is what I wrote about him in the next head coach thread

he was suppose to take coaching for english lions in 2018 but a rape aligations for one of the worc players came up which rhodes supposedly knew and failed to or did not notify worc management. As a result he was suspended and lost the England lion coach position.

what I read about him in 2010 his coaching style is giving freedom to the players in their playing style

might not be good for our players

I forecast the next 12-15 pages of this thread will be a honeymoon phase for him.

It's up to him to take Bangladesh forward as far as possible in this period.

Hathuru also gave players freedom to play in their own style. Sounds like a good choice...

Looks like a good choice under the current circumstances.

Does this mean Walsh is out of the team or will he still be the "bowling coach"?

Have you guys noticed that BCB is looking for Klusener as a batting consultant? If just for T20, it's okay, otherwise

We all know about it. It's in every report about his recruitment as a head coach.

Looks like Papon is hellbent on bringing Klusener in some capacity. May be he has a poster of Klusener in his bedroom.

BCB approached Kluesener as a bowling coach in 2010.

http://www.cricbuzz.com/cricket-news...coaching-offer

When Kluesner came to Bangladesh as a coaching staff of the Zimbabwe team in the tri nation series he said he was interested to work for Bangladesh. He was recently sacked by Zimbabwe. So I see what BCB is doing.

Former big name player or nor doesn't matter. What matters is what kind of coach he will be. personally i think Bangladesh team needs the hairdryer treatment which Sir Alex Ferguson used to give to under performing players. A strict disciplinarian is what we need to put some players straight

He has decent coaching credentials and seems like a good choice under the circumstances.

It is near impossible to get a big name coach nowadays with the money on offer in T20 leagues around the world.

I second getting Streak on board as the assistant head coach/bowling coach. Didn't he get sacked by Zimbabwe after the WCQs?

Also a proper technician is needed as the batting coach. We really need to get the whole backroom in order before the World Cup.

That's what I also think. Without that, I am afraid, any coach will fail in Bangladesh.

That's what I am worried about this selection.

I also agree we need someone who will need to enforce discipline in players. However Haturi did that and the players eventually got him the sack. The Board also needs to support the coach if he wants to be strict.

Not at all. Hathuru's autocratic tendencies is probably what led to the player revolt during the SA tour (Mushfiq captaincy, Shakib skipping tour alltogether). Once he realized he wasn't getting his way, he jumped ship.

But Hathu attempted to blacklist Mominul on the pretext of technical flaws instead of trying to fix the minor issues he has. On top of that he seemed to be on the same track of undermining Mosaddek with certain comments he made. All probably a ploy to ensure he gets to keep selecting his personal favorites Sabbir, Imrul, and Soumya without scrutiny.

A hathuru style coach only works for few years

Streak without doubt was the best bowling coach we had

He is yet give formal presentation to BCB. How come BCB says he will be the head coach ? Just because Garry prescribed ? Well, as per Steve, he is yet make decision.

Among the short listed candidates of three, only Steve has been called for interview. So the media is speculating that he is going to be the next coach.

BD cricket team situation sounds like my last workplace.
Some useless people get to positions where they make themselves unreplacable and when you complain about them, the mgmt don't target them and instead target you, the complainer. Eventually, you just decide to walk out.
