I feel that he could be a great asset even in ODI. Yes, he will leak some runs, but he is very deceptive. He bowled a couple of beauties today.

Generally Dhaka club cricket turns out harder for a spinner than taking on Zimbabweans. If Abahani decide to pick him at expense of Saqlain, he may get his DPL debut today, against a fairly strong Victoria side. Looking forward to it

TDS: The young spinners played a huge role. How would you rate them?
CH: If you notice, the way the team was structured was not normal for Bangladesh. They used to have one fast bowler and many left-arm spinners. But now I think we broke that mould and that mentality. We had [Jubair Hossain] Likhon and his impact, for me was a big plus. He took very crucial wickets in the second Test; it could have been a draw but then he opened the gates. The fast bowlers got breakthroughs as well. So breaking that kind of mentality and mould is very crucial.
Coming to the spinners, I think Taijul [Islam] can be a world-class bowler because he has got all the ingredients; nice loop, good bounce and pace off the wicket. And Likhon is just a freak talent. If he continues to grow and if we can look after him without getting too impatient he will win us many more matches. The control and courage that he has is amazing for his age. Variations a lot of people can have, but to bowl those things under pressure; that normally comes when you are a seasoned campaigner.

Nice words from our coach about Jubair. Really excited to see him in future.

Mr. Sarwar Imran just amply demonstrated the typical mindset of a deshi and local coach by publicly "criticizing" a young but extremely talented legspinner for bowling one or two loose balls. Just get to show what our local (and, well known) coaches/officials know about cricket and how they think. Its almost scary.

This probably explains a lot about how Bangladesh approached the game with an ultra defensive mindset at times in the past, which has hurt us in the long run...

That's why imran is a Desi coach not a foreign coach ...who dont have upper level thought.... beta foul....world cup candidate player...won't get chance at dpl...pethetic beta bua.....he might be little expensive ....but he is a wicket taker bowler...come on imran...take some coaching classes man.

Here is hoping he will get a few games in the super league. He is quality and should not be wasted.

Bangladesh cricket seems to have a never ending relationship with Sarwar Imran. He is always involved whether as DPL coach, first class coach, national team caretaker coach, academy/hp coach, under 19 coach, A Team coach, pace hunt coach.
True he is experienced, but i think we need fresher thinking coaches. Taking our cricket ahead requires us to not only work on talent pipeline, but also coaching pipeline. We wont go far ahead if we keep relying on the Sarwar Imrans. For some reason guys like Mashud, Aminul Islam, and now even Mohammad Salahuddin are not involved by BCB.

In the Zimbabwean series(Test + ODI), I can point out at least 3 different instances where Bangladesh was searching for a wicket(Zimbabwean batsmen dominating for a while) and Jubair provided the breakthrough. He basically opened the floodgates in the fifth ODI. We need these wicket taking skills in the world cup against top opposition before opposition piles on a mammoth total

I have a feeling that since Jubi didn't play dpl..so his wc dream has faded away.

one spinner we need: it will be either taijul or arafat sunny alongside shakib and mahmudullah, plus nasir, sabbir can bowl too

Not taking him may prove to be a mistake. My personal Advice to Jubair, even if he does not get selected is to keep his head up and not worry about it too much since he is very young in years.

According to sources, the selectors refused to pay any heed to the request of Hathurusinghe, who asked them to include Jubair Hossain. They instead went with experienced domestic campaigner Arafat Sunny.

It was an awfully difficult decision.
True Jubair could have added this extra variety, and x factor to the attack.
On the other hand very difficult to overlook Arafat Sunny's experience.

I am happy that the boy was excluded. He has still a lot to learn. The amount of surprise in these conditions is very minimal. Taijul's bounce is more important and can be disturbing to opponents.
Plus this exclusion will get the fire under his belly going.

I agree with you. here are some fans who think Soumya wasnt a good selection even after he's proven it time and again consistently, and not just this DPL. And on other hand, they want Jubair to be there just based on couple of ODI's and that too against a poor zim side weak against spin, that drew the series with zimbos 2-2 at their own backyard. Jubair still leaks a lot of runs, and we simply cannot afford to take spinners of that sort for the time being. That was also one of the reasons for Razzak being excluded, he just stopped being economical. And no one can guarantee whether he would have got wickets. The sample size is too low, plus we have other inexperienced members in the squad to deal with. People can bring up the example of Mushtaq in 92, but they fail to realize Pakistan at that time had much more experience than our current bangladesh team, and thats why they could afford to take some gamble and risks. Right now, we have already done that with guys like Sabbir, Soumya, but there's a fine line, and a limit, and i think the selectors this find beautifullly was able to find the right balance on where to draw a line.

JUBAIR should have been in the WC squad instead of Sunny. It was a terrible decision. It shows that our selectors are still very inexperienced and not aware of Aus condition. They definitely have a poor knowledge of cricket history. In 1992 Mustaq Ahmed for Pakistan was a star, let alone Shane Warne who is best spinner ever produced in the condition. However, Taskin was a good pick. Hope they learn from their mistake. Anamul should be a handful. I ask Allah to allows to get best out of shakib , Tamim, Musfique, Mashrafe.

Read, what Pakistan Chief Selector Moin Khan had to say about inclusion of Yasir Shah, a relatively inexperienced Leg Spinner.
Pakistan are without a specialist off spinner, though the selectors have named a leg spinner in Yasir Shah, along with Afridi. Moin defended the selection as a pure cricketing decision.
"We had also carried two leg spinners [Mushtaq Ahmed and Iqbal Sikander] in the 1992 World Cup, so that isn't something exceptional," Moin said. "With leg spinners, the probability of taking field wickets increases.
We have as many as 12 matches including the World Cup games, and given the age factor of Afridi, naturally we have to keep a back-up as well.
Wish Faruq and Co. would think in the same line.

Relatively inexperience? Have a look at Yasir Saha's profile. Yh haven't played much int cricket but his got tons of domestic cricket experience to back up on his selection. Plus he had a dream series against NZ last month. Now compare that with Jubair.
