IPL to be played outside India
The second season of the Indian Premier League will not be held in India. At the BCCI working commitee meeting today in Mumbai, a decison is believed to have arrived at, to stage the tournament outside the country, due to extraordinary circumstances.

Pasha bhai, we missed a great opporunity here.
Sadly, our infratructure is no where near what it takes to hold such big domestic event.
Only, if only we were anywhere close to the requirements, we could have easily hosted the games, given the geographic closeness that binds our two countries.

Modi said nothing will be changed and that every team will have a home venue of their own. We cannot provide eight different venues for teams so no question of Bangladesh holding it. But it would be great for Bangladesh and our cricket if we could hold this tournament and it would also benefit IPL and Indians as all the matches would be sold-out and the timing of the matches would be the same for viewers in India.
I think UK is the best place for the tournament because of its massive Indian population. I myself wouldn't mind going to watch Mash or Ash play. Ticket prices are bound to be cheap because of the last-minute arrangements.

The IPL corporation would like the games to be played near Indian time so I'd say playing in South Africa would be best.

Is cricket migrating to the west from its religious home?
Not a good sign. The security concern might turn out to be a killer of sub-contient cricket.

Now, this brings some serious questions.
Does this mean the paki players can take part in this years edition of the IPL??
Where does it put our $600K man, Mashrafee??
Would the KKR re-sign thier pakistani bowlers at the original price instead of going for a new contract with a new player???

No I saw the conference with Modi, Prity and SRK. Modi said most teams have announed their squads already and have filled their International player quota so there is virtually no chance of Pakistanis playing this season.

Mash must be VERY happy. If this move was announced before relocation he wouldnt have got that much.
KKR should play in East London. They'll get massive crowds.

Don't like IPL type cricket. It is kind of a process of distributing $$ among competing parties. If there is no country involved I don't feel the charm of the cricket.

If the BCCI has the money and the Guts, go try it. Make it people friendly 10-30 Dollars a ticket and host it in Cities where theres Major Subcontental communities.

I really dunno why they don't reschedule?? Yes logistic nightmare, but honestly, it seems weird to go to an INDIAN premier league match in London or Cape Town.

It's a much better idea to play in a different country & maintain the schedule than rescheduling it.
Resheduling would upset the entire international tours or IPL won't get most of the int players. How many times the ICC & other boards can we expect to adjust to IPL schedule?
Playing IPL outside India, that's not a big deal. That rathar helps IPL to expand it's viewer base. Just like indian filmy award ceremonies abroad are helping to increase it's viewers abroad. How about US trade show in BD? or BD trade shows in Europe? It is definitely a better idea for IPL to go abroad, though it's more enforced by the circumstances.

I dont want it to come to England just before the WC T20, I would have loved it any other year. Please take it to Saffers.
Besides T20 is about runs galore. April/May in England will be difficult time for batsmen as the ball will swing viciously due to cold/moist weather.

BBC was pointing out the same thing and said that it wasn't a good idea for T20 in England at this time.
It might go to SA as their league will be over and all the grounds will be available as well.
But it still might be in India, may be Modi was just scaring the politicians. People won't like to miss IPL for election I guess.
