Habibul Bashar: Team Operations Manager

Yes folks!! He has retired. A little TV natok gig, some domestic matches, now he has found a new position in Bangladesh Cricket. Some of the die-hard fans surely would be dissappointed that he is still not playing. BCB has done well to keep him in the loop.

Former Bangladesh captain Habibul Bashar will launch a different innings from tomorrow when the Grameenphone-BCB Academy Cup 2010 gets underway with a four-day match against the touring South Africa National Cricket Academy at Chittagong.

Bashar, who announced his retirement from all forms of cricket last month, will act as team operations manager of GP-BCB NCA. With Bashar assuming a new role and former assistant coach of national team Sarwar Imran as the head coach, many feel the platform for future national cricketers is embarking on a new chapter.

"I have always been with cricket. So, the environment is nothing new for me although I will have to play a different role. To be frank I have played with some of these boys," said Bashar during the official launching ceremony of the GP-BCB Academy Cup at the Grameenphone's headquarters in Gulshan. ...

ok, is this series one between academy teams or A teams...i'm very confused.

A team is a the next step up from academy level...or are they synonymous?

Bashar is the OM for the Academy team, who are playing against the South African Academy team the same time BD-A and SA-A are playing each other...

I believe SA Academy and SA-A took the same flight to Bangladesh...

A very bad move.

His demure pessimism is infectious. HB should be kept away from the present team. Nothing against his contributions to our cricket. But his era has come and gone. We are living through a different, dashing and bold era of our cricket. HB does not have much to offer here.

This is a step backward.

Sarwar Imran is the coach of BCB Academy?OMG what is this?May be this guy is fit for a Divisional team but definately we need a good coach for the academy.Probably KM Sujon was not a bad coach of the academy but i dont think Sarwar is fit there.IMO we need a good coach for the academy an australian would be the best choice.
By the way good to see HB SUMON as TOM hope he will be a good manager there and will help the boys with his international experience.

the academy and A team of soth africa came the same day. also the dates of the two FC mathces are similar.

then academy team playes two more ODI and t20.

the A team plays a trination list A also involving WI A. the SA A leaves and in WI A plays two FC matches

Yes we need a good Under 19 and Academy Coach. In the last two Under 19 World Cups we had local coaches, and the results were far from what we achieved under McIness and the other Aussie guy (Forgot his name)

HB Sumön is not an intelligent guy thats true but this is also true that he is very gentle sobar who have lot of experience.Lets see how he does.If some one is sincere he can do great jobs.When he was selected as a captain everybody was against him but he did not turn out that bad as people expected.
