He's struggling for sure. Hasn't scored a test century for a long while now. I think he should bat at his usual position when he first started out. Still a good and important player for our side.

Forget about Test century, it's been a while that he even scored an FC century. I think it's more of an mental issue - somehow he lost his ability to maintain focus for a prolonged period.

His List-A career flourishing though!

Pacers were deliberately directing shorts ball at Mominul's rib area. It is not a technical issue just a weakness in his batting. Needs to work hard to overcome them.

Very, very limited player. He doesn't play loi which is hurting his batting in test cricket.

We play a small number of tests in a calendar year. It's always difficult for a batsman to maintain his form in international cricket if he doesn't play international matches regularly.

U need to be a special player like C. PUJARA if u wanna get success by being a test specialist only.

The only thing I like about him is that he does have the temperament of a test batsman unlike most of our batsman.

Feb 2019 update

Matches: 27
Runs: 2154
Average: 46.82
100: 6
50: 12
Ratio: 0.5

1st innings: 56.83
2nd innings: 33.66
3rd innings: 57.18
4th innings: 42.25

home: 59.03
away: 29.47
alien: 28.87 (in NZ, SA, ZIM)

Doing well at home, but obviously needs to improve away and in alien conditions. Will be important in the tours to West Indies and Australia if the tour isn't cancelled.

Almost all batsman are flat track bullies. The likes of Smith and and Root hardly scored on any runs on our turners where Tamim and Warner were able to hit hundreds (so it wasn't an unplayable pitch). I doubt if anyone can cite many batsmen who have hit hundreds when the ball was seaming or swinging through the air.

QUOTE=zura;2082205]Mominul is most over-rated batsman in the team. He is only a good dead-pitch batsman[/QUOTE]

Really? He has fifties in NZ in swinging conditions and both Shakib and Mushfique the two centurions gave credit to Mominul for seeing off the new ball and making their jobs easier. Mominul also has a fifty in SA. He might not have scored a hundred outside Bangladesh but he an definitely face the swinging balls

Koto ailo gelo. Would persist with him in tests but don't think he has a future in the ODI format.

Mominul is such a laid back player that he doesnt have the specifications for playing the white ball.

He should never be in team unless its for Tests

Momin turned out to be one of our worst batsmen ever in away matches, with current average 21.45

http://stats.espncricinfo.com/ci/eng...s;type=batting

Even likes of JOB Gullu, Rajin Saleh, SN, Junaid, etc had better overseas Test averages than him. A facepalm moment when you think about all the dramas Hathuru faced trying to get this home track bully out of the team. His being the current captain of our Test team pretty much summarize current state of the team.

Overall mominul has by far been the best of the younger batsman, only one that’s done anywhere near well enough to even be compared to the senoirs, away average aside.

Captaincy is a different thing though, no young player or senior player was going to do a good job. None are ready for captaincy.

as far as the BD cricket team and BD cricket in general, I just don’t think cricket is taken seriously enough to the sort of professional level that it is in the other top cricketing nations.

There is clearly talent, talent isn’t the problem imo, but I think you could take the BD test team and compare it to other test teams bar Afghanistan, Ireland, maybe Sri Lanka and West Indies and I think the difference in professionalism, training etc in the team if not across the sport in the country would be quite noticeable.

Don’t expect to compete with the best if you won’t train like the best, put in the best infrastructure etc.

That’s part of the problem when you think you’ve made it once you get to the national team, infact I believe it’s a type of culture that has crept into a lot of cricketing nations but not as badly as in BD cricket.

Basically if you want to be the best then you need to look at what players like smith, kohli, Williamson, rabada etc do, look to players of the past like Tendulkar, Warne, McGrath, the great Aussie team, the great WI team and see the difference in work ethic, attitude and professionalism.

You need the mentality of constant improvement, constant work, you can always get better but you’ve got to be able to make yourself put in the work.
