বাংলানিউজ২৪: কোন ম্যাচ না খেলে জাতীয় দল থেকে বাদ পড়ার ঘটনা শামসুর রহমানকে এখনো তাড়িয়ে ফেরে। ২০০৯ সালে টি-টোয়েন্টি বিশ্বকাপ স্কোয়াডে থাকলেও তাকে প্র্যাকটিস ম্যাচেও খেলানো হয়নি। ২০১০ সালে ইংল্যান্ডের বিপক্ষে টেস্ট স্কোয়াডে থাকলেও খেলার সুযোগ পাননি। কোন কিছু না খেলে জাতীয় দল থেকে বাদ পড়ে গেলেন। কেন বাদ পড়েছিলেন এখনো তার উত্তর খুঁজে বেড়ান শামসুর রহমান।
বাংলানিউজ: আপনার বন্ধুদের অনেক জাতীয় দলে খেলেন, আপনি কেন পারছেন না?
শামসুর রহমান: আমার চেয়ে ভালো বলতে পারবেন যারা জাতীয় দলে নিয়ে কাজ করেন। আমাকে দু‘বার জাতীয় দলে নিয়ে খেলার সুযোগ না দিয়ে বাদ দিয়েছে। আমাকে প্রমাণ কারার সুযোগ দেওয়া হয়নি। আসলে কোচ জেমি সিডন্স আমাকে পছন্দ করতেন না।
বাংলানিউজ: কিভাবে বুঝলেন জেমি সিডন্স আপনাকে পছন্দ করতেন না?
শামসুর রহমান: আন্তর্জাতিক পর্যায়ে যাওয়ার পর নতুন করে ব্যাটিং শেখার সুযোগ নেই। জেমি অনেক কিছু শেখানোর চেষ্টা করেছেন যা আমি পারিনি। সেজন্য তিনি আমাকে পছন্দ করতেন না। আমিযখন টেস্ট দলে ঢুকি তখন দক্ষিণ আফ্রিকার বিপক্ষে চার ইনিংসের তিনটায় ৫০, একটায় ৩৮ রান করেছি। আমাকেনেওয়া হলো কিন্তু খেলানো হলো না। টি-টোয়েন্টিতে আমাকে ৯ নম্বরে খেলাতে চেয়েছেন। কোচ আমাকে বলেন, তোমার জায়গা ৮/৯ এ। একজন আন্তর্জাতিক কোচ এভাবে বললে কি করার থাকে। আমি দুই বছর জাতীয় দলের ক্যাম্প করেছি তিনি আমার সঙ্গে ১০ মিনিট ভালো করে কথা পর্যন্ত বলেননি।
বাংলানিউজ: আপনার ভেতরে জেদ কাজ করে?
শামসুর রহমান: যেহেতু আমি ক্রিকেট খেলতে চাই, ক্রিকেট ভালোবাসি, অবশ্যই জেদ কাজ করে। পাশাপাশি ভাগ্য খুব জরুরী। এখন যে তিনজন নির্বাচক আছেন তারা পারফরমেন্স দেখেন। আমার পারফরমেন্স সব সময় ভালো থাকে। ঘরোয়া ক্রিকেটের পারফরমেন্স হচ্ছে জাতীয় দলে ঢোকার সিঁড়ি। এখানে ভালো খেললে জাতীয় দলে টিকেথাকতে পারবো। আমি যখন জাতীয় দলে নেওয়া হয় তখন একটা সুযোগ দিতে পারতো। সবাই সুযোগ পেয়েছে আমি সুযোগ পাইনি। এরচেয়ে কষ্টের কিছু নেই। আপনি কাজকরে ফল না পেলে মন ভেঙ্গে যাবে। আমারও মনটা খুব খারাপ হয়েছিলো। আমার পরিবার আমাকে খুব সাহায্য করেছে।
বাংলানিউজ: ‘এ’ দলের ব্যাপারে কতটা আশাবাদী?
শামসুর রহমান: আশাবাদী হতেহয় নিজের পারফরমেন্স থেকে। জাতীয় লিগে তৃতীয় সর্বোচ্চ রান করেছি। প্র্যাকটিসেও চেষ্টা করছি। আশা করি সুযোগ পাবো।
বাংলানিউজ: সামনে ওয়েস্ট ইন্ডিজের বিপক্ষে হোম সিরিজ আছে, আপনার কোন পরিকল্পনা আছে?
শামসুর রহমান: ‘এ’ দলে সুযোগ পেলে ভালো খেলে নির্বাচকদের খুশি করতে চেষ্টা করবো। আমার পারফরমেন্সই যাতে নির্বাচকদের কাজ সহজ করে দেয়। সত্যি বলতে আমি হোম সিরিজটা খেলতে চাই।
বাংলানিউজ: আনার বিরুদ্ধে শৃঙ্খলা বিষয়ক নানা অভিযোগ আছে, কতটা সত্য?
শামসুর রহমান: এ বিষয়ে আমার বলার কিছুই নেই। আপনিকেমন মানুষ পারফরমেন্স বলে দেবে। আমি কেমন ছেলে আমার পারফরমেন্স তা বলে দেবে। আমি এমন কি করি যাতেশৃঙ্খলা ভঙ্গ হয়? উশৃঙ্খল হলে কোন ক্রিকেটার মাঠে পারফর্ম করতে পারবে না। ক্লাবের নিয়ম মেনে প্র্যাকটিস করি, কারো সঙ্গে খারাপ আচরণ করি না, মাঠেও দৃষ্টিকটু কিছু করিনি। তাহলে কেন এমন অভিযোগ আমার বিরুদ্ধে। অভিযোগ আসলে ভিত্তিহীন।
বাংলানিউজ: আপনার জীবনে কার অবদান বেশি?
শামসুর রহমান: আমি যখন ছোটছিলাম আমার বোন আমাকে অনেকসাহায্য করেছে। আমি যখন এইজায়গায় এসেছি, তিন জন কোচের কাছ থেকে খুব সহযোগিতা পেয়েছি। যাদের কথা না বললেই নয়, নাজমুল আবেদীন ফাহিম স্যার, খালেদমাহমুদ সুজন ভাই এবং বিকেএসপির আরেকজন কোচ মতিউর রহমান।
বাংলানিউজ: আগামী পাঁচ বছরে আপনার পরিকল্পনা কী?
শামসুর রহমান: পরিকল্পনা অবশ্যই আছে। পাঁচ বছর জাতীয় দলে খেলবো এবং ভালো পজিশনে থাকার চেষ্টা করবো।
বাংলানিউজ: আপনার কাছের বন্ধু কে?
শামসুর রহমান: মুশফিকুর রহিম, সোহরাওয়ার্দী শুভ, ডলার মাহমুদ, মার্শাল আয়্যুব এবং আমার স্ত্রী সামিয়া রহমান আমার খুব কাছের বন্ধু। তাদের কাছ থেকে আমি সব সময় সহযোগিতা পাই।

শামসুর রহমান: এমন কিছু কখনো হয়নি।

শামসুর রহমান: ২০০৬ অনূর্ধ্ব-১৯ বিশ্বকাপের পর আমাকে কোথাও রাখা হয়নি।কিন্তু অনূর্ধ্ব-১৯ দলের তৃতীয় সর্বোচ্চ স্কোরার ছিলাম আমি। তারপরেও কোথাও রাখেনি। ২০০৯ এবং ২০১০ জাতীয় দলে ঢুকে কোন কারণ ছাড়া বাদ পড়ি। এরচেয়ে দুঃখের ঘটনা আর কি হতে পারে।
বাংলানিউজ: কোন সুখোস্মৃতি আছে?
শামসুর রহমান: ২০০৯ সালে পিসিএলের ম্যাচ চলছিলো। ইস্পাহানির হয়ে পাইরেটস অব চিটাগংয়ে বিপক্ষে ৭১ রান করেছিলাম। ওই দিনই জাতীয় দল ঘোষণা করেছিলো। আমি প্রথম জাতীয় দলে সুযোগপাই। ২০১০ সালে মোহামেডানের লিগ চ্যাম্পিয়ন হওয়ার ম্যাচটিও আমার জন্য স্মরণীয়। খুব ভালো খেলেছিলাম।

He still has time to prove himself. Perform in NCL and DPL and selectors will give you a chance. But this whining attitude won't get anyone far. Just look at M Hussey and how he waited for years and years or even Di Venuto who retired today. This guy averaged 45+ and played over 300 FC matches and yet never received a national test call.

Brother, he didn't get single chance to prove himself in the national team,though he was selected two times in the national squad! He is a cosistent performer in domestic leagues and for the A team,so what he was selected for national team.But its very unfortunate not getting any chance to prove his worth in the team,he was just thrown away from national team for nothing.

It is time to show your talents by performance only. There are only 11 positions in the team, so, if you are NOT selected, that means, you failed to occupy your space in the available slots. As the coach recently says, he is expecting 4/5 players to compete for his slot! That's the way, it should be. So, stop whining as it used to be accepted in the recent past!

He's not unlucky. Tamim is a lock at opener so there is only 1 spot left at the 2nd opener's spot and the fact is that guys like Imrul, SN, Junaid, Nazim and Jahurul have all outperformed him in domestics. So how does he expect to get called up then? Go outperform these guys and the selectors will get interested.

Stop complaining kid and get to work. He can certainly make a case for himself for the WI test series coming up at the end of this year. I just looked at his last few FC scores, in the last 8 FC games he played he played some good innings- 94, 86, 49, 93, 53 and 101*. That's actually not bad. I think NCL season will take place ahead of the WI series, so work your butt off start making those 80s and 90s into 100s, and you can find a place in our fragile top order.

Journalists will always catapult some challenging questions at you. And its upto you to question them smartly and properly. He should take a leaf out of shakib and take a look at his recent interviews

If he thinks he is unlucky then just look at brad hodge who didnt get many chances even despite such great performances in domestice. And shuvo didnt have any good performances of late. Even in BPL he got few chances where he couldve won his team the matches and he failed so I dont understand why he thinks he should get a chance above Imrul, SN, junaid, jahurul

দুই দুই বার জাতীয় দলে নিয়ে একটা ম্যাচও না খেলিয়ে ছুড়ে ফেলাটাকে কি বলা যায় বলতে পারেন? এটা কি এক ধরণের অবিচার হয়ে গেল না? এথেকে হতাশা বা অভিযোগ আসাটাই তো স্বাভাবিক,আমি আপনি হলেও তাই করতাম। জাতীয় দলে নিয়েছে তো পারফর্ম্যান্স দেখেই,সেটা ডমিস্টিক প্লাস এ দলের হয়ে পারফম্যান্স,তাহলে তাকে জাতীয় দলে দুএকটা ম্যাচ খেলিয়ে তো যাচাই করা উচিত ছিল। তা না,বরং কোন সুযোগ না দিয়েই ছুড়ে ফেলে একেবারে ভুলে যাওয়া! নিজেকে শুভর জায়গায় রেখে একবার কল্পনা করে দেখুন না কেমন লাগে!
