TF1 or TF2? That's all I know from my undergrad courses (life science major too). Belated congrats to Miraz bhai. When I was a guest/lurker here for years, I thought you were the main Mod here. Always enjoyed your posts and articles/interviews.

On topic - What will be the avg selling price for 1000 sq. ft apartment in Mirpur-10 area? How about in 4 years from now?

mufi bhai...everyone keeps saying the property bubble in Bangladesh is going to burst...at some point in time, the prices being asked for, will go beyond what even the upper middle class can afford. But it is yet to happen.

Rayer Bazar 1100sqft next to Sikder Medical, horrible roads, stench of leather factory by products, waterlogged, apartments are still going for ~48-50lakh.

For a 3 bedroom apartment, you're looking at 1200-1300 sqft, in Dhanmondi we sold for between 2-2.5crore. In Mohammaadpur, around 75-80lakh. I don't think it'll be too different in Mirpur, maybe knock off 5 lakh, in 4 years time...you don't wanna know.

EDIT: Most importantly apartments are horrible investments(the shoddy nature of the work - we built 3 ourselves after going halves with a real estate company on our 1st one...and I felt really guilty selling those apartments to ppl ), use your money to buy a plot...good place to buy would be just outside dhaka(along the dhaka-ctg highway), give it ten years, and it'll be swallowed up by Dhaka, and prices will go through the roof.

Thanks F6 bhai. We decided to give this land to developers. Still in the process of negotiating. In any case, it will take at least 3+ years to sign, get RAJUK approval, water/electricity approval (right now, they are not giving any new approvals), and finally construct. So I wondered what the price will be in 4 years.

You have to come to London for Mishti. Otherwise, probably have to wait for another 2 years.

Thanks Mufi. BC kept me going during my PhD research and it was a mutually beneficial partnership.

My targets are NFkB, AP-1 and Stat3.

Everyone goes to westin, radisson, regency (or any combination of those three) with their friends and then you end up in a house party which is usually a sausagefest. Great thread and welcome back! Any advice for someone looking to start a legal career there? I just finished the UK Bar exams and want to get substantial legal work experience before applying for a Masters.

Navo, I am not a lawyer, but I have made some lawyer friends and they usually do one of four things: practice in their dad's or mom's chamber, apprentice in a hotshot lawyer's chamber, like some of my friends did for Barrister Rafiqul Islam or Hasan and associates, for a pittance (maybe 10k/month), do their own practice in the evening and teach in a private university (since every private university needs lawyers to teach business law classes to bba students) during the day for a reliable source of income (north south pays abput 50k, while Green University supposedly pays about 130k - not totally sure about Green University), and the last option is that they move to the uk, new zealand, dubai, etc after 5 - 6 months in Dhaka. Quite a few of my friends have taken the last option. I am not a lawyer, so I can't give you advice, but this what I have noticed in the case of my friends.,

Thanks for the advice. I've always intended on going back to Bangladesh and teaching, alongside working as a practitioner. Don't know about business law though, it's quite boring :p I want to practice in Dhaka in the long-term but I am considering gaining work experience abroad i.e. UK, Singapore, etc. It's the entire hassle of getting work permits which is annoying...
