Default Muktijoddha stuns A Nebitchi in AFC Cup !

Muktijoddha stuns fancied Nebitchi
6 April 2005

The night of upsets in the AFC Cup continued when Muktijoddha scored an 89th min goal to defeat Nebitchi of Turkmenistan 1-0 in Ashgabat.

Nebitchi, the home side, was heavily favoured to win the match after defeating East Bengal and holding Group A leaders Al Faisaly to a draw in the previous matches.

Defender Shek Ahmed’s goal in the 89th min stunned the Nebitchi faithful who came in the cold to watch the match. The win brought them level on points with Nebitchi and group leaders, Faisaly on four points each. East Bengal are bottom of the group with a point and a match in hand.

Faisaly will play National Football League leaders East Bengal in a later match in Amman.

More results from the same group:

East Bengal whipped five goals by Al Faisaly
7 April 2005

Striker Mohayyed Salim was in his element as his hat trick helped Al Faisaly thrash National Football League leaders East Bengal 5-0 in Amman today.

The huge loss will definitely sound the alarm bells in the Indian club who were quarterfinalist in last year’s AFC Cup. The win maintained Faisaly’s position at the top and East Bengal’s position at the bottom.

Mohayyed goals came in the 12th, 42nd and 69th (penalty) minutes. Other goals for the Jordanian club came from Sama’n Halaseh in the 54th min and Mohammad Mahadeen in the 66th min.
