Congrats to Federer. That was an amazingly long 5th set.

Gotta feel really Andy Roddick here.
I was rooting for him this match, hoping he gets rewarded for his amazing hard work.
This was his big chance.

I think the turning point of the game was when Roddick lost the 2nd set tie break after being up 6-1.

It was much more lengthy than last time. Last time was 9-7, this times it went to 16-14. OMG, it was so Service dominated match. Almost No return and No rally made it a bit monotonous at the end. But great effort from Fed at the end.

Roddic is a bit arrogant in his speaches; after semi he was like complaining why none counts him and after the finals he declares to be one day like the greats sitting there. He hasn't even won a Grand slam in memorable time span. Needs to be more polite and humble like Nad/Fed to have success. I think he was very tallented, but his attitude is his enemy hindering development. Having said all these, he deserves a congratulation for being the runners up and having a great hard fought final against Fed. Weldone

So, Fed breaks the tie with Samprass and back to Number one. Congrats !

Hot damn! Amazing game of tennis this time around as well. I really wanted Roddick to win. It'd have been great if Rafa was defending his title this time, but as Federer said, "injuries are part of the game". Great job by Roddick to pull the game on so long from behind.

I am probably one of the biggest Roddick fan out there. You cant imagine how much this one sucks. But so proud of Roddick.

Federer Came off as a Jerk, "Well Andy, this happened to me last year and look what Happened"

I'm glad Roddick Reminded him that he's got 5 already, As long as Roddick stays in good shape he can play till he's 32-33, he'll win a few more slams if keeps it simple Big Forehand + Improved Backhand and He was aggressive on the Return as well.

He'll have nightmares about that 2nd Set Breaker

LOL, I'm sure he just meant that it wasn't the end of the world and that Roddick has a chance next time. Seriously, when I was watching it, he seemed to have more of a friendly tone when he said that.

What an epic match! Andy sure has a come a long way. Definitely the second wind he needed to take his career to the next level. Could have gone either way but the multifaceted grace of FedX won-out in the end. 50 aces from the master! Broke Andy just once to win it all ...

Strongly disagree...He was extremely humble in his speech....He was saying it in a totally different tone than what you are sounding it out to be! All he was saying was may be one day he will have his name written on the Wimbledon champions list alongside the greats of the game which is not a an unrealistic dream considering this was the 3rd time he reached a Wimbledon final...He was as humble and polite as anyone can be!! Same after the match against Murray as well....and on both occasions I was on centre court...He is one of the most liked character on the tennis circuit!

I thought he was being nice! Trust me it seemed friendly and in good spirit...and Roddick didnt remind him anything!! They were having a friendly banter and both players have utmost respect for each other....

didn't see the end of the match but heard that when federer won he whipped out a jacket which had the #15 on it, i'm a fan of federer but that is a bit much, i know his sponsors pay him a lot and it was probably they're idea but he could have saved it for a later photo shoot or the press conference.

Me too. I think Federer'd prolly win. But it'd have been a hell of a match to watch. I'm waiting for Rafa to come back to the AELTC next June!

I concede. Federer is the greatest tennis player ever to play as of yet. Hats of to Federer in breaking Pete's record.

Andy, May be next time. Keep your chin up!!

Umbolden, Ferens, Ojji and Markin Opens will see some great men's tennis over the next 5 years. The humbler and braver Roddick is exactly what it needed to make it more exciting. In addition to that, if Murray and Tsonga can do their own Lendls, meaning players who eventually overcame their mental issues and deliver, we'll be blessed with more epic finals.

Hope Safin does a Goran before it's too late for him.

I wonder what condition he comes back in. Knee injuries really do suck, and since he is a power player, it'll affect him greatly.
