India, Bangladesh, West Indies to feature in a triangular T20I series in Florida?

India’s ongoing Test series against West Indies ends on August 22 and it is being learnt the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is keen on playing a few international matches on American soil, to measure the crowd response. The BCCI had originally planned a mini-IPL, with the USA as a potential venue, but then had to call it off due to lack of time. Now they are keen to take the game to American soil, a report in The Indian Express revealed.

Meanwhile, the report further indicated, rather than a bilateral series, between India and West Indies, the WICB and BCCI both are willing to involve Bangladesh, who were the runners up in last edition of Asia Cup, and make it a tri-series. Mashrafe Mortaza’s boys at this point of time have no international assignment. They are also striving for more cricket top quality against opposition, to keep their recent impressive form slackening.

not official yet. just a rumor that was published in an Indian newspaper. so I won't get my hopes high.

but if it does happen, I will strip naked and body paint myself in green and red and go to stadium

and I will host and take any BC members with me..

I see that it is on cricinfo website... it's T20, they should include US National team...

agreed, this way US will get the opportunity against quality international sides

No that would not make any sense. The sole purpose of this series for BCCI is to avenge the loss the incurred due to WI pulled out from a series in 2014. A series featuring no name USA team is not financially viable. Florida has huge India, Bangladeshi and Caribbean population. This series is directed towards them - Non residential desis (mostly) and to T20 loving Caribbean population. Local USA people simply does not care.

Avenge? What are we playing? Game of Thrones? Haha

I think it would have been a great gesture exposing the game to the US Public at large. At least that's what the game has taught me- discipline. I for one, being a resident of the US would love to see the US team in action.

Who will be footing the bill for this tournament? I read that Bcci had to scrap mini IPL to accommodate this series...and what a better market to make back money than in Fort Lauderdale...where cpl will be playing soon...cracking the glass ceiling

don't think Bd will participate in the tournament. looks like it will be bileteral series between them, as saw in cricinfo.

Reportedly BD is not considered because of Visa issues. They will try to make it triangular T-20 from 2017. (saw it in a tweet)
