~Now who should lead BD cricket: Mashrafe or Sakib!!?? :S~
You know the present scenario making confusion in choosing the right person who should lead BD cricket from now....yes Mashrafe is a good captain...he has lots to prove yet...but what about Sakib after such "leading from the front as a captain" performance which we never saw in BD cricket?...Moreover he is aggressive, winner, real crouching tiger what we are observing for last 15 days...He seems to win the match anyway...thats the good sign of a captain and we need him....but Mashrafe??(don't forget his injury crisis)
?

Keep it simple. Let the big brother come back first and stamp his authority. Till then status quo.
Shakib will have his chances in the future.

hmm good suggestion...but shouldn't we start the future from now...how many days to be defeated like same old stories? If Sakib is appropriate, then shouldn't he lead us?
Graem Smith was very young when he was appointed as captain...now see where is SA!!

I think we will see shared captaincy like we saw in this tour because of Mash's fitness issues.

It's not fair if Mash is sacked after less than 1 Test...

well the concern that everyone had was that captaincy would be too much pressure and we would lose Shakib the performer.
I think thats a moot point now.
however, given the circumstances in that Mash never got see his captaincy through even for a full match the decision should be upto Mash. If I were him, I would step down for the benefit of the team. It'll boost his role as a true team player and increase his respectability unlike some other former captain in the team.

Though I have voted for Shakib, I think we need to stick with our original plan. If Mash fails then we do have Shakib in our hands.

Hands down Shakib................first of all, captaincy should be earned...it shouldn't be a hierarchy. Just because Mash is a senior player with some oneday match winning performance should not make him an automatic choice. fficeffice" />
Very rarely fast bowler's make good captains....I know it’s not fair is that does nullify Mash's chance of being a captain but he is simply not going to be as good as Shakib because of his one dimensionality. He could be good late order batsman but he's no all rounder and he hasn't even done anything special in tests as a bowler.....what better way to give a performing player with a good head on his lean shoulder the chance to lead by example than a player like Shakib.....this boy will take Bangladesh far (I’m not saying it just because he won the test today, I’ve been saying it since Mash was appointed).

I know mashrafe did not get much of a chance....but shakib really showed off his captaincy skills. He set up fields nicely and trapped the batsmen....which is kind of rare in bangladesh international cricket. He brought on the right changes. He played his captain's knock when it was necessary. He bowled well.
I think he deserves it more. I can not see how mashrafe or anyone would do better.

Well, it might be really tempting for us to see Shakib in the hot seat, but we really should be patient. We should give it time. Now we know what we can expect from Shakib. So let's keep Mash captain for a while, and let's see if he can match Shakib in the most minimal of ways. Rushing never helps, and Shakib is just blossoming to his very best. Let's wait a few more while before we hand it over. And anyway, we have this ODI series and the whole Zim series (as Mash's injury is likely to keep him out, blessing in disguise for Shakib's captaincy check? maybe) with Shakib captaining. We'll find our answers.

Its like Mahela Jayawardena-Marvan Atapattu case. Mahela got the opportunity to lead the SL team when Atapattu was injured, and he showed such a great captaincy that Atapattu didn't get it back even after his recovery.

Hear hear, the man speaks.
Mash is the captain, let him come back and take over. Let Shakib grow into the role - 2 tests is a tiny sample size. I never quite liked the idea of Mash as captain (in fact we probably wouldn't have won this had he been there throughout), but let's see what he's got. Hopefully he'll take a leaf out of his deputy's book after this.

Shakib might be a better option compared to Mashrafe because of his all round capabilities as well(outside of his captaincy skills). That is, he can pick up in another department if he fails in one, thus relieving him from excessive tension and pressure.
Mashrafe is a very good bowler, no doubt about it, but he has often failed in the last 10 overs in ODIs giving away too many runs.. so in a tight situation he might have double the pressure.

not so early to shakib.let him mature a bit more.as we can see from recent trends, that captaincy kills the bd players' potential.we dont have an ample stock to experiment with, do we?
