His keeping and captaincy both were atrocious in 2003 WC. His lack of discipline was well known. The keeping never improved and his batting was, well, below par. There's a reason Mushy replaced him. He used to take us to honorable defeats, that's why he was called a 'fighter'. Anyhow, I don't miss him a bit.

Pilot was a good keeper at his time. His gloves work was not bad. But I dont think his keeping was much better than Mushy. At that time hardly we had good bowling.

brings up a good point, pilot might have looked a good keeper, but at the same time he was keeping to pacers who bowled around 115kph, maybe 120kph for a lot of his career. mushy has consistently beeing keeping to bowlers bowling 125kph+ with a ceiling of high 140kph (rubel). so mushy has had a tougher job, and despite his simple mistakes he is very dynamic and explosive behind the stumps. now we go on about mushy's height being a bad thing and yes it can make a difference but mat wade is a short bloke and aside from ian healy's recent comments he's been quite a decent keeper for a good number of years in australian domestic cricket, no one ever says he's too short to be a keeper.

Yes, Knott was quite a half-decent wickie.

I would throw in Jack Russel into that mix of yours. In the early days, Mushy used to be such an excitable lad behind the stumps...almost hyper-active. Hence, many lapses in concentration. As he getting "older" he is becoming much more calmer. Mushy is not spilling too many nowadays.

Khaled Masud, though, was almost electric while keeping to the spinners.

1970's saw a lot of great keepers. But, Kirmani was the best of the lot, IMHO, with Marsh as the next best. You had to be good for Lillie and Thompson.

What should be Mushfiqur's grade for the tests and ODI?

I felt he did mostly okay. Yes, there were the obligatory drops, but neither Oumi nor Bijoy might have done better.

IMHO at least in tests with 2 keeper in the team mushy could take a rest sometimes

No it won't work. Bijoy bats as an opener or at number 3. He can't keep all day and than go out to bat as well. This is the reason Sanga gave up keeping wickets in Test.

BD does not have even one good WK, whereas SL has many! There should be pace-hunts and WK-hunts.

no i was meaning say mushy keeps for overs 1-40, bijoy keeps for over 41-70, and then mushy again

and if jahurul also plays then 3 can divide it

3 persons are authorized one odd mistake each but one person isn't authorized 3 mistakes in a game..

There is an issue of a guy settling down, with gloves... 3 keepers will make it worse... If Zahurul is a better keeper, make him the keeper. But I think Mushy is doing just ok with his limitation of height... A tall guy can make a lots of difference as a keeper...but he has to be a good keeper first, not just a tall keeper.

Mushfiqur's performance as a batsman is much better in matches he does not keep. This could be a statistical anomaly, but given his importance to the team as a batsman, I want to keep an eye on this.

Having said this, his keeping in ODI has been decent in recent games. He still drops catches, but not as much. So, I can live with his keeping in limited overs, but not in tests.

Today his stamping was excellent. But, those 2 bye 4's were pathetic!

To me, the two positives in the 1st ODI were, Anamul's century and Mushfiq's keeping. He took a couple of fairly difficult caught-behind chances.

He is so shameless as a player and captain. Nothing to say.
