Throughout the campaign, McCain has struck me as a better candidate than his Republican predecessors from the recent past. Things couldn't have been more difficult for Obama and it is indeed extremely impressive how he has toppled all barriers to finally end his campaign with such a remarkable landslide. America has chosen the right man for the job. Shabash Barek bhai!

To me this victory has 2 major significance.

1) US finally has a black president
2) A guy with Muslim ancestry and a middle name of "Hussein" wins just 7 years after 9-11 in a country where Muslims are reviled.

I don't know how it will play out but the fact that Dubya is leaving (either way though) is a thing to celebrate.

Obama's record doesnt speak well of him. The incidene with 2 muslim supporters being barred to take photo with him because of their hijab, his rather aggressive denial when suggested that he is Muslim, and constant sucking upto Israel like his predecessor dont speak well of him.

He was running for US presidency, not for Pakistan's. Those "records" you speak of are all "personal/shrude political" moves - nothing else. It doesn't say anything about his decision making.. Infact I would say, the way he handled those situations only speak positively of his decision making....

anyways it's good to have change.. let's hope for the best. And some Tax cuts with free medical coverage...LOL I need it.

I agree. To be honest.. I felt very sad when Bush topped McCain in 2000 election. I really rooted for this guy. Though I wanted Al-Gore to win at the end ofcourse - that was another disappointed.

But for this election, America made the right choice. Hillary would've been equally interesting. Maybe Hillary can win in '16 I still have a soft spot for her.

Nah, if America is going to elect a female President, it has to be Palin.

I read a nice quote,

McCain wasnt bad but he had to fight against 3 people; Obama, GWB, and Palin !

Even though I know Obama may not turn out to be the solution, I am feeling positive for some strange reason

Fundamental differences: There are many. However, with the campaign ending, RNC showed once more that they lack class. I respect McCain for his sacrifices for this nation but can't say the same about folks in his team and a good protion of his support base. As McCain was giving his concession speech today, there were ugly BOOOOOS whenever he mentioned Obama, a sad reminder of why people jumped ship and went for Obama this year. McCain was gracious, it was probably his best speech in this whole campaign. I felt sorry for the man, Bush/Palin ruined it for him.

On the other hand, I did not hear a single BOOOOOO when Obama mentioned Senator McCain in his speech. We definitely wanted/needed change. Change from the blind hatred and 'win at any cost' mentality that was displayed by the desperate RNC and it's core support base. America prevailed.

Much props to Obama's campaign team and the man who has made all this possible - George W Bush.
