Pilot is a very good captain.He is one of the best captains bangladesh had.His problem was discipline.

Yeah, it was Akram Khan that led Old DOHS to championship twice. In two years before that Pilot led Victoria to championships.

Pilot has been working for his cricket academy at Rajshahi. Probably this is his main goal now a days. Also good for BD cricket.

Pilot was the best captain for bd before Shakib. He resigned himself from captaincy, which is very rare scene. He also got Man of the series award against Srilanka for his wise captaincy in that test series.
People like him is good asset for bcb as coaching or other administrative jobs.

Pilot was in the field ok captain and off the field worst captain bd ever had. forgot 2003 WC already he was out with some key players before the kenya match. Rumor has it he took money and dropped three seaters in that match. anyway bd did nothing good under him actually went back wards under him. Never the less best captain before ICC was akram and after Shujon to me.

Good. Neither should he be a selector right now. I believe, a player must be retired from cricket at least a minimum of five years before he thinks about being a selector. Close or distant association with respective teammates sometimes tend to cloud your judgement in matters of selection.

ইমরুল কায়েস: আমি আসলে দুই-তিন বছর ধরেই ভালো রান করছি...৫০০-৫৫০ রান হচ্ছে। মাঝখানে যেবার মোহামেডানে খেললাম, সেবারই কেবল রান করিনি। প্রতিবারই আমার টার্গেট থাকে ভালো করার, সবার ওপরে থাকার। এর আগে পাঁচের মধ্যে থাকলেও এবারই সবচেয়ে বেশি রান করলাম। তবে শুরুতে রান না পাওয়ায় খুব হতাশ ছিলাম।

বেশ নাটকীয়ভাবেই আবাহনীতে যাওয়া আপনার। তামিম ইকবাল হঠাত্ মোহামেডানে চলে যাওয়ায় গেলেন আপনি। তামিমের বিকল্প হিসেবে কোনো বাড়তি চাপ অনুভব করেছেন?
ইমরুল: চাপ তো ছিলই। তামিমের জায়গায় আমি...সবাই আশা করছিল, আমি ভালো কিছু করব। তবে পারফর্ম করতে শুরু করার পর আর কোনো চাপ-টাপ ছিল না।

ঘরোয়া ওয়ানডেতে ভালো করলেন। অথচ জাতীয় দলের হয়ে সর্বশেষ তিনটি ওয়ানডে সিরিজে তো খেলাই হয়নি আপনার। এবার কি আশাবাদী?
ইমরুল: আমি তো আশাবাদী তিন জাতি সিরিজে খেলব। ঘরোয়া ক্রিকেটের পারফরম্যান্স আমাকে আত্মবিশ্বাসী করে তুলেছে। তবে এ ব্যাপারে নির্বাচকেরাই ভালো জানেন।

প্রিমিয়ার লিগে নিজের কোন ইনিংসটাকে সেরা বলবেন?
ইমরুল: বিমানের বিপক্ষে টাই ম্যাচে ৬৭ রান করেছি। ওটাই...।

কিন্তু লিগে তো আপনার দুটি সেঞ্চুরিও আছে!
ইমরুল: হ্যাঁ, তা আছে। কলাবাগানের বিপক্ষে তো পুরো ৫০ ওভার ব্যাট করলাম। তারপরও ৬৭ রানের ওই ইনিংসটাকেই সেরা বলব। দলকে জেতাতে না পারলেও আমার ইনিংসের জন্যই ম্যাচ টাই হয়েছিল। অনেক দায়িত্ব নিয়ে খেলেছি সেদিন।

বছর শেষে ঘরোয়া ক্রিকেটের সেরা ব্যাটসম্যান হওয়ার কৃতিত্ব। সব মিলিয়ে ২০০৯ সালটাকে কেমন বলবেন?
ইমরুল: শেষটা ভালো হয়েছে। তবে জাতীয় দলের হয়ে ভালো খেলতে পারলে আরও ভালো লাগত।

আবাহনী শেষ পর্যন্ত চ্যাম্পিয়ন হয়নি। এটাও কি অতৃপ্তির একটা কারণ?
ইমরুল: সবচেয়ে বড় কষ্ট তো ওখানেই। এর জন্য নিজের সাফল্যও ভালোভাবে উপভোগ করতে পারছি না। খালি শেষ ম্যাচটার কথা মনে পড়ে...এটা ছাড়া মাথায় আর কিছু আসে না। এভাবে ভালো লাগে না...। আমি সেরা ব্যাটসম্যানদের তালিকায় সবার ওপরে না থেকে পাঁচের মধ্যে থাকলেও হতো, তবুও যদি আবাহনী চ্যাম্পিয়ন হতো!

২০০৯ সালে তো কঠিন পরীক্ষা অপেক্ষা করছে বাংলাদেশের জন্য। ভারত, শ্রীলঙ্কার বিপক্ষে তিন জাতি সিরিজ দিয়ে শুরু। যদি খেলার সুযোগ পান, বিশেষ কোনো লক্ষ্য?
ইমরুল: আগে চেষ্টা করব দলে নিজের জায়গা পাকা করার। এর আগেও নির্বাচকেরা আমাকে সুযোগ দিয়েছেন, কিন্তু আমি দলে জায়গা করে নিতে পারিনি। আর আমি খেলেছিও হঠাত্ হঠাত্। যে তিনটা ওয়ানডে খেলেছি, খুব বেশি আগে থেকে জানতাম না যে আমি খেলছি। সুযোগ পেলে এবার তাই টার্গেটই থাকবে ভালো খেলে দলে টিকে থাকার।

after scoring 572 in PCL he was the top run getter. Imrul Kays is confident that if he gets the chance he can take this form to intl games.

IK(imrul Keys): I am actually doing pretty good for last couple years... scoring 500 to 550. only the time I played for Mogadan i didn't do that well. I always try to be in number position. I was in top 5 last couple of years but this time i could become number one. but at the start i was upset because i wasn't getting any runs.
PA: you joined Abahani (the Greatest team in BD) in very dramatic way. At the last moment Tamim wen to Moga. Did you had any extra pressure as you joined as an replacement of Tamim?
IK: Yes there was pressure. I was going to play in place of tamim, so every want expected that I will score heavily. But after i started scoring there was no pressure.
PA: you did pretty good in local games. but last three intl series you couldn't play. are you expecting that you might this time?
IK: I am confident i will play Three nation cup. Local games made me confident. But selectors knows the best...
PA: in PCL which innings you liked the most?
IK: I made 67 against biman in that tie match. that one...
PA: But you have two centuries in the league?
IK: yes I do and also batted all 50 overs in the Kalabagan Match. Still I would say that 67 was the best. Even though my team didn't win. because of my innings we were able to tie the match. Played with lots of responsibility.
PA: End of the year you got the best batsman award. how was 2009?
IK: It ended well but could have loved if i could play for the Ntl team.
PA: Abahani couldn't become champion. is that why you are not totaly satisfied?
IK: The biggest disappointment is that. That’s why i can't celebrate my performance. I could have been much happier if i was in top 5 batsmen and Abhani won the title.
PA: 2010(though it says 2009 but i think it was a typo in the article) is waiting with difficult exam for Bd. Starting with India-Srilanka tri Nation. Is there any special target you have if you get the chance?
IK: I will try to cement my place first. Even before selectors gave me chances but i couldn't cement my place. And I also got the chance all of a sudden. Three one days that i played I came to know that I am in, in very short time. That’s' why my target is to cement my place by performing this time around.

PCL = Port City League. Bhuwa T20 league which will be held at Sharjah in 2010 and Channel I will telecast those matches . Noakhali has a team in that league. Abdul Razzaq and Rana Naved will play for them.

Same here. Which is why I don't welcome HB as a selector either, at least not yet.

I really hope imrul gets picked as the 2nd opener instead of Zunaed. One's vastly out of form, and the other is the No.1 scorer in our prestige one-day tournament. It should've been a no-brainer, except that sometimes our selectors do not use any brains.
