Default Team selection for da 1st test!

So, what is going to be the 1st 11 for Lords? I know its too early but my probable squad is going to be like this-

Batsman:
H. Bashar
Nafees Iqbal
R. Saleh
M. Ashraful
Shaharier Nafees
A Ahmed

Bowler:
M. Morteza
T. Boisha
Rajb
M. Rafiq

W/Keeper:
K. Masud

I know there may be enough arguments regarding omission of javed, considering his last ICC trophy performance in england I prefered to exclude frm da 1st 11. Athough if he can perform exceptionally well in the practice match then its different matter. There may be argument on inclusion of Rajib, considering his inexperience but i wud still like to see how he performs at the top level. Also i like to play 4 main bowlers and 6 specialist batsman.

Believe there wudn't be any argument on the selection of Masud as he is still no 1.

Yeah it is a bit early. I think 9 out of the 11 players you have selected are certainties. For the other two, we'll have to wait till after the warm-up games.

Subject to warmup matches yadda ytadaa.

Batsman:

J Omar
R. Saleh
H. Bashar
M. Ashraful
A Ahmed
K Masud
M Rafiq
M. Mortaza
Enamul Haque Jr
T. Baiysa
Shahadat

Yep, 5 specialist batsmen, Pilot at 6 and then five bowlers.

This is designed to win, not stretch the game into day 5 - Ashley Giles has been taking buckets of wickets in England, so we grit our teeth, play Enamul and say if 5 batsmen can't put together a score, six won't.

Anyway, the blokes at 6 and 7 both have test centuries.

Javed
Nafis

Ashraful
Aftab
Mashud
Rafique
Mashrafe
Tapash
Shahadat (Although I don't think he should be in the squad at all he's better than the other options)

agree with habibul fan.there has to be 3 pacers and a spinner.now who will be the third pacer should be determined based on the practice matches.

If Enamul Haq Jr can show some exceptional peroformance in the practice match(es), what will be a dilemma is ONE or TWO spinner in best 11?

If Rajib can astonished the english media in the practice match(es), what will be a dilemma is Talha or Rajib in best 11?

It will be a futile exercise to predict the playing XI before any of the practice matches. It’s quite obvious that this series can only have one result, which is certainly not in favor of Bangladesh. If Bangladesh has to make an upset in any way or form, the odds of pressing a draw is less than pulling an unlikely win. The fact of the matter is that we are not capable of pushing the test match till the tea of the 5th day, so what IanW said about playing a combo for a win should at least get some consideration. But in the end, playing only 5 specialized batsmen may turn out to be too much of a risk for Bangladeshis to take at this time.

The 3 newcomers in the squad should be played in all three practice matches. If they click, all of them should be in the playing XI for the test. JO has to leave for good either in this tour, or the tour after, so we might as well start grooming Abir as one of our long desired opening partner of Nafees.

The other new face in the team is Mushfiqur Rahim, and we do have the option of using him as a specialized batsman. If he can give us a few decent scores in the practice matches, he should replace Aftab at least for one of the test. Aftab certainly is a class act, but in the longer version of the game he still hasn’t come out of his shyness. He played 8 test innings so far, and scored the following: 20, 28, 43, 4, 6, 11, 0 and 5. His scores for the disastrous Duleep Trophy tour were 24, 8, 18, and 26. On the other hand, Mushifiqur has a good track of runs from his tours with the Bangladesh A, and U19 team, which also include few centuries. If Aftab follows a similar pattern of scores in the first test, give Mushfiqur a chance in the 2nd test.

Lastly, it’s a close call for the spot of the 3rd pacer in the team. Shadat, and Munir are somewhat ahead of Talha in terms of performance from their respective A team and BCB XI tour. Again, whoever copes well in the practice matches should play the first test.

Flipper,

It's a bit much to discard Aftab after 3 kinda OK test scores, 1 decent one and 4 failures. Lets see how he goes in England ...

Aftab just need a few more matches, he will turn out to be useful. just need a bit more time. at this point there is no reason for leaving aftab out of any of the test or odi matches. true he has not been that useful in test but u can see the progress. he is coming good.

and he has this aggressiveness in his batting that is that no one else had so far. he can get into a bowler's mind and break him down.

IanW seems to be the most aggressive supporter of BD than us native.
I like his attitude, attack with our best! I think in second test we can try with a team like IanW suggested. After all we have nothing to lose but make a positive impact.
