[Current] Bangladesh vs Zimbabwe in Her Prime
Zimbabwe from her debut Test to right before the exodus (batting)
Bowling stats
Quite a solid batting average of 27.66 and a respectable bowling average of 37.76
Bangladesh in her last 15 Tests (batting)
Bowling stats
So our batting figures (26+ average) aren't that far behind Zimbabwe with the Flower brothers, Houghton, and Goodwin. But our bowling stats are significantly poorer with a 44 average helped in part by a series against a weakened Windies side.
Conclusion, Zimbabwe in her prime were considerably better than we are even in our last 15 Tests. And we haven't been all that bad.

Well, that isn't a rocket science tbh. The amount of sheer class they had in batting would have been enough to beat us comfortably most of the times, even if they had a weak bowling attack(and that wasn't even the case).

Zimbabwe used to be competers, not just making up the numbers like they do now.

you didn't read the post. their batting was actually just a wee bit better than ours, even with the likes of Flower, Houghton, and Goodwin. Perhaps because Houghton and Goodwin didn't play that many matches. But they still managed to draw about a third of their matches, I believe. 25 out of 73.

I did read your post. You are reading into averages too much. No one in BD team apart from Tamim comes near the class of Flowers, Goodwin, Campbell etc in terms of batting and our bowling wouldn't be able to run through them . Add to that they actually knew how to play spin and their bowling was most definitely MUCH better than the crap they have right now. All in all, they were in the right track and had it not been for politics, they could have toppled WI and perhaps NZ by now. So, it's not hard to guess who was better between them and current BD.

^^still, it should have been very very interesting match up.
perhaps in theory(my understanding) it is about 60-40: 60 Zimbabwe. 40: Bangladesh

60-40 is the current WI vs BD now.. I think that it's 70-30.

Based on the world cup, it was South africa 98:02 (the 2% is solely due to Shakib).

Well they were up there to challenge the big boys!! Mentally tough, physically strong, technically very capable. Big teams lost test at their home. Whereas, we could not finish it off. (example Australia. Bhagey paiye o cherey disi)
