What is he thinking...
Quote:
32.4 Hoggard to Khaled Mahmud, one run, outside the off stump, Mahmud gives himself room and has a go at it, gets a top edge but luckly for him ball falls in no mans land on the off side
|
Has he heard the term lead by example. WHY THE HELL IS HE PLAYING SO RECKLESSLY. AAHHHHH.

The BD captain gives up...
Quote:
33.3 Johnson to Khaled Mahmud, one run, again gives himself room, this time Johnson follows him, played away awkwardly to the square leg region
33.2 Johnson to Khaled Mahmud, FOUR, short and wide outside the off stump, once again Mashud makes some room and cuts it away to the backward of point fence
33.1 Johnson to Khaled Mahmud, SIX, pitched up on the middle, was the slower delivery, Mahmud gives himself room and lofts it over the long on fence
|
It has become clear he has given up on trying to reduce the margin of defeat. He just wants to have a go at every ball like he is playing the last few overs of a ODI. Has he got no shame!

Look at it as his last gasp attempt at holding onto the captaincy. Sure enough, you'll find some folks going - you can't drop, he was our 'highest' scorer in the last innings.
Frankly, he should just retire or resign. He can be the ODI captain if he must but please - let us say goodbye to Sujon - the 'test' player.

138 all out in our own soil...this is not acceptable
it's just the bd team...we are not upto to the standard to play test matches look at the score card 30's is max score....our top order can hardly pass 200 ...i think should we play more tests and get more humilation or just wait for couple of years ...sorry ppl i can't just believe we scored less than first innings of second test even not 200

I think all of us have pointed out the right concerns. But if we are to list them sequentially, then the glaring one surely to stand out on its own would be the top order batting. That failing so miserably surely will trigger all else ?
Also, it looks like that in the 2nd innings no one even bothered. External forces at play ? I think not ? Bad team selection, sure, we all know that Tapash should have been in, and both Enam and Mahmud should have been out. But surely, we are not suggesting that Enam the 19 yr old bribed himself in ?
But as Raj pointed out, Dave was taking too many risks. If so, then that's actually a good thought, isn't it. I mean that a veteran and pragmatic coach like him does believe in the team's potential.
Actually what happened is, we just did not have time to prepare. We did not study the English bowlers at all, and identify means to tackle them, and then practice that on an appropriate pitch - just like we did against Australia.
So now, lets all look forward to a lot of practice in preparation of Zimbabwe, and a quality assesment of the right players who need to be in the team.
