Good day for Calgary. Season opening win over Canucks!

Boy... they are so entertaining to watch. Looks like they are in a mission this season.

We will see about the mission. Goalie and defense issues had to be addressed if they want to win the cup, which is the current property of yet another Pittsburgh team..

As far as I know, Goalie is not an issue for this season, but defense is of-course may be the issue. But then its too early to discount their defense.

The team is young and the season is new and the start is excellent except some lapse in defence at the end against Toronto. But offence is great so far. Pretty dominating performance so far against Boston as well as Toronto.

Theodore stll starting

Better not see Varlamov on Thursday when we play them.

Rangers Rookies look good so far Del Zotto and Gilroy, Staal is only 22 ... Nice Foundation of Defensemen to have for the next decade.

Crosses fingers for Gabby to stay healthy, and we'll have a good year

When healthy Gaborik is as good as any player in this league. I always admired his goal scoring prowess even in that defensive system in Minn. Wild.

Theodore will not win a cup for Caps. Alex Ovechkin continues to score at a torrid pace.

I had high hopes for Varlamov this season. But looks like its Varlamov who is giving too many goals, and its Theodore who is playing better.

But yes Theodore's ceiling is not high enough. To go all the way, Varlamov need to start playing like a pro. There is still some time for him to grow this season, as this is really his first full season in NFL.

Its early. Varlamov was great in the playoffs last year. He has a whole year to get his feet wet in NHL.
Its a shame that Pens and Caps don't meet until late Jan! What a quirky scheduling..

Capital-er defense asholeyee Faltu. If they cannot fix it quickly, all the good deeds by the offence will go to the toilet.

What a pity. What an explosive offense, and the defense is not even playing average to give them any hope. They defense looks like bottomless basket.

Caps have the worst defense among all the elite teams. In playoffs, you won't get away with it, no matter how many goals you score. In a long series, Caps will be exploited. Eventually, they will have to trade some of their firepower to get solid on defense.

Was watching an interesting debate the other day - one to have a think about. You can build a franchise around either Sidney Crosby or Alexander Ovechkin. Was surprising to see the love for Crosby, I'd hae thought Ovechkin would have been favoured a lot more than he was.

I'm a Senators fan, was gutted to read about Dany Heatley's departure as he was always such a big part of our offense...

Can't go wrong with either. I would love to have Alex in my team, but settle for Sid and Malkin!

When did Colorado become so good? They are on fire.

Latest injury among stars: Malkin. He is out at least two weeks. Kovalchuk, Gaborik, Franzen, Towes- all hurt among other stars. Not having Malkin really hurts us. We have to buckle down and grind out victories.

Thanks for opening this bro ...

The Avs were always pretty solid. Easily our greatest rivals after Toronto and Chicago.

Avs had a terrible down season or two in the recent past. Sudden turn around is surprising. Yeah, traditionally, Avs/Nordiques were strong.

Well, a good centre can do wonders (see the Leafs struggles). Although honestly, both are so awesome, it really wouldn't make much of a difference.

As for the Av's I doubt they will continue at this pace. They will come back to earth soon. I see them ending up as either a low level playoff seed or barely missed playoffs.

Anyways, I'm happy to see leafs FINALLY pick it up and get some points... Hopefully, we can beat the habs...

I was watching some of the highlights on NHL Network last night. Kessell looked good though he got his clock cleaned on that hit. I think Leafs will start winning more games.
