From this view it looks a nice stadium. As this venue is outside Dhaka I have doubt about its success. We have no other successful stadiums other than CTG outside Dhaka. So don't know it may fall apart like Bogra and Khulna.

Sylhet has quite a lot of cricket crazy people and people there are "wealthy" people who are prepared to pay extra money if needed for the tickets. (Talking about black marketing).

Also, sylhet compared to Khulna, Fatullah, Bogra is much more developed

A bit of 'Londoni' influence is evident in the design of the stadium.
Looks great. It will be good for our image.

Looks beautiful. Once it is done, it will look even better I believe. I hope the water-drainage system is a good one too...

Khulna and Bogura also has good stadium but lacking in other department. e.g. Communication with Dhaka and Hotel facility.

Seriously, need an extra tiers in Bangladesh stadiums. Beats me when SL and UAE have several tiers, and we are stuck with 1 or 2 despite being a cricket crazy nations

I think if BCB wanted, we can have 4 International quality Stadium in Bangladesh! Dhaka, Chittagong, Sylhet and Cox Baazar! I hope they really look after those stadiums. I agree with MHRAM why we don't have a single 40,000+ plus stadium, I really don't understand.

The original planning had sheds. But strangely it's not in place yet!

Oh...yeah...we know what happens when you conduct a job without any tender! Corrupt BCB.

May be, the canopies will be built after the permanent structure is completed.

Oh yes ... Forgot about khulna.... Bogura is a good stadium... Need some work there.. & i belive time will do that soon.... We need a stadium bigger than what we have... Atleast 50,000 capacity for big games in dhaka somewere.... So the way, no mara mari for ticket & not only vip in a big games.... Also as a test nation u need a home ground like a ind , aus, sa, like what they have...... They have many big stadiums.... But atleast we need one for our notional image.....hope soon or later bd will do that.

Even SBNCS struggles to sell full house. What's the point?

The empty seats you see at Dhaka is due to the Black Market Choas. not because of less demand. I think place's like Dhaka and even to some extent Sylhet will attract huge numbers, I hope black market mess does not leave the stadium half empty. in addition Chittagong also attracts a lot of people, its just about the management.

Why u have to play test there? 50,000 for odi & t20 games.... Espacially when big occession showed up in bd or bd playing extreamly good .... Like asia cup or nz series... Yes u need more spot for regular crowed....... Where is the problem if we have atleast one big stadium whole intire country? Where other test nations have many?

You're kidding right? There is at least 5 times the demand then what is being sold at the market. The seating capacity at SBNS is 26k whereas only 11k tickets go for sale and rest of them are all complementary tickets given by BCB to various VIPs, Clubs, Sponsors etc. But, yeah if you say that SBNS struggles to fill the whole stadium then I'll agree with you because many of those so called VIPs hardly bother to go to the stadium as they're always getting it for free and the've little interest in the game.

Thats why i want bigger stadium somewere in dhaka... So not vip persons can see the real picture of cricket instead of wasting seats in a bigger game.... With no dought 50,000 capacity stadium u need when u r in asia & playing test cricket... Also cricket is the most popular game for bd.... So why not?

Sylhet all ready to go

The newly built Sylhet Divisional Stadium was given the green signal for the World Twenty20 next year

The newly built Sylhet Divisional Stadium was given the green signal for the World Twenty20 next year from the ICC venue inspection team yesterday. After assessing all the facilities, the head of delegation Chris Tetley informed that the stadium is ready to host the mega tournament and also the international matches ahead. “It’s a beautiful stadium and it has been build according to the ICC instructions and I think this is one of the beautifully located stadiums in Bangladesh,” said Tetley. The inspection team earlier visited the venue couple of times, but was unsatisfied with the work. However, they called a press conference yesterday and briefed about their observations. The Sylhet stadium was a major concern for the cricket board ahead of the mega event as the venue earlier failed to meet two deadlines to finish the works. The newly built stadium will host six men’s qualifying matches along with 22 out of 30 matches of the women’s tournament. Meanwhile it was also learnt that the Sylhet stadium is likely to make its debut in the upcoming Sri Lanka series in January 2014.
