Fight of the Year, talked about it in BC chat ... Maidana is dirty little fighter but he's definitely has the biggest heart in the 140lb division and he's the biggest puncher in that division as well.

On to the Khan/Maidana ... You can knockdown Maidana but you can't finish him, he showed alot of heart coming in and getting tagged by Khan's Blazing Hand Speed. Khan has the 2nd Fastest Hands in Boxing behind Manny, but once he caught Khan, Amir showed alot of heart taking those punches as well. The 3rd ,7th and 10th and 12th Rounds was alot of Drama for Amir, he was out on his feet but some how managed to stay up.

Fair Decision I had Amir winning by 2pts as well, When Amir was boxing, he was class above Marcos but i think he answered alot of questions about his jaw, it still his Major Weakness but the amount of punches he took proved that he doesn't have a glass Jaw and that he has a lot heart. He took a fight that alot of people said he shouldn't take and got past a very big Test

He's going to be a Major draw in the States, not because he's Pakistani/British and Muslim but because he's a top 5 talent in Professional Boxing.

A little late but I'll still give my thoughts on this fight. It was a great fight and could have gone either way if it wasn't going to go the distance. If and when it did go to the judges Khan was always going to win as Maidana's style suited Khan.

Khan started of brilliantly with that brutal body shot, I didn't think Maidana was going last, and although he did come back from that you could see it had a lasting effect on him.
Khan's defence wasn't as tight as it needed to be and he took a lot of hard punches none more so than in round 10 where he was so close to being knocked out. Some referees migt have even stopped the fight there as he was taking a lot of shots without fighting back but that would have been very harsh as he is the champion and deserved getting the benefit.

In conclusion the fight ended as many had predicted: that Khan would win by a decision, but they got more than they anticipated; Khan was tagged alot more than expected and maybe more surprising was that his chin survived a barrage of punches from argubly the biggest puncher in the division.

Next for Khan is likely to be the winner of Devon Alexander VS Timothy Bradley in a unification fight. Whomever out of those two he fights will probably be a tougher test for him in terms of style, as he will have to work harder against their slick style as opposed to Maidana who has that "always coming forward stlyle" which is a lot easier to hit and score against.

I had Maidana winning by 2 rounds 115-113, katsidis as always showed heart but was undone by boxing skills of geurrero, Kirkland chin is an insult to glass chins.

Khan vs McClowsky
last round saw Khan getting through more and more, and had him stunned. Paul recovered very well, and continued the posing he'd been doing the previous 5 rounds. Then both heads meet in the middle, with Paul coming off the worst. He had no idea what was going on when the referee/doctor asked him how he was feeling, and was hardly giving a positive response. The referee waved it off, Paul began walking back to his corner without protesting. But then his corner got in the ring, told Paul that his cut wasn't that bad, and then they all started protesting. McClowsky just avoivded all the punches without trying to land consistently, khan wanted to finish the fight with one punch, i personally feel he underrated McClosky
Prediction:Khan via TKO7- Result-6Round technical decision 60-54 x3 i had it 60-54

Ortiz went a long way to erasing his quitter reputation. With a stunning upset over Andre Berto, On Saturday night he claimed a 147-pound title in a sensational fight, and handed Andre Berto his first defeat at the rocking MGM Grand Arena at the Foxwoods Resort Casino. It was a clear fight of the year candidate that featured non-stop action and both guys getting knocked down twice.

Cus D'Amato (former trainer of tyson, patterson)on his own experiences and on the subject of fear.

"I remember the first time I got involved in what I call a waiting fight," D'Amato reminisces. "In the neighborhood in which I lived, which was a pretty tough neighborhood, you got involved in fights all the time. Whenever you got angry, you fought or you lost respect. Under those conditions you didn't think about being frightened. You replaced fear with anger. But it's different when you have the experience of waiting, an experience I had once. I lived in an Italian neighborhood, and a few blocks away there was an Irish neighborhood. I never used to have trouble with the Irish; I got along with everybody. But then the neighborhoods had some trouble, and both sides said, 'You bring a guy and we'll bring a guy, and they'll fight it out. Instead of both gangs fighting, we'll have two guys representing the neighborhoods.' I was 16," D'Amato continues, "and the Italian guys chose me. I wasn't mad at the Irish, I wasn't mad at anybody. But three days ahead of time I knew I had to fight this big Irish guy at nine o'clock on Saturday night.


So comes the night of the fight, I didn't want to fight because this guy never did anything to me, but I got no choice. All the Italian guys and I go over to the street between the neighborhoods, and wait under a big street light. We got there, maybe five minutes to nine, with eighty or ninety guys, and the Irish must have had a hundred but their fighter hadn't shown yet. I sat down on the curb, and I was thinking to myself. 'How the hell did I get into this mess?' To tell the truth, I was scared. All my life, when I got mad I'd fought. I was fighting grown men when I was fourteen, but now I'm saying, 'Jesus Christ, what's the matter with me? I got to be crazy to do this. The next time some guys try to get me to fight, I'll fight them first; I got nothing against these Irish fellows.'" D'Amato's eyes grow larger, his face more animated, as his tale progresses. "Anyway, I'm sitting there, really sweating. I reached up, felt the sweat on my forehead, and figured it was blood, but it was only sweat. Nine o'clock comes and the Irish guy isn't there. Quarter after nine, the Irish guy isn't there. Nine-thirty, I'm still waiting, and all the time the waiting is getting worse because this guy is gonna be there, and I'm gonna have to fight him. Finally, at ten o'clock, one of his buddies comes and says the Irish guy is scared. He ain't showing. It was the happiest moment of my life."
