Default BCB and the national selectors

It was BCB's groundsman that made arrangements to bring pich experts from SL and to prepare the Dhaka wicket like a little bouncier wicket than normal. (Source: one of the bengali dailies of today).

And yet the national selectors of BCB - who were not aware of this fact and chose to select 2 spinners and 2 pacers on this wicket.

And the 2 spinners took 1 wicket a piece, while the pacers took 5 wickets. One was a run out and the other 2 were taken by Ashraful - a specialist batsman who also bowls leg spinners.

Of course, there was some turn on the wicket, but when the two most experienced bowlers - Enamul Haque and Naimur Rahman take only 1 wicket by each of them, and when the other bowlers - inexperienced bowlers - Tapash, Talha, and Ashraful - share 7 wickets together, then what does it tell you?

Also, I know that Aminul Islam is a very good batsman - the most highly temperamental batsman in the squad, besides being the most experienced in terms of playing cricket for a long time, who also has the ability to score big runs, gets leg before out to a fast ball both in the same fashion in the 1st and the 2nd innings?

It says that the oldies are not learning as well as may be the youngsters in the side.

I'm confused here - how does being tempermental help ? What did you exactly mean ??

Is obvious that the players lack exposure and do not know the basics . ..Bulbul has neither the time to get exposure and then begin contributing enough, nor does he have the flexibility at his age to disregard his flawed reflexes that have established over the past 14 years.

Default Bulbul and the pitch

After the failure in the first innings, Bulbul as well as every bangali and BCB knew that Bulbul needed to post a big one to stay in the team.
At this point, I am tired of having a different team in every single test. However, the team that played in the last team needs to be change, it should have never been picked in the first place.
First of all, they needed Rokon, not Anwar. Anwar needs more time to mature. I feel sorry for him.
Durjoy and Moni, two spinners ? HOW CAN THE SELECTORS/BCB not know what the groundsmen did ? When they took the job, what did they think they were doing ? We are sitting infront of a computer yet we could have predicted a third pacer after watching the one-dayers. They have the luxury to even check with the groundsmen (unless they are too HIGH and MIGHTY thanks to their "position" to even consider what a lower official has to say).

They should Quit if they have any sense (highly doubt it) and so should Bulbul. After all this years, you'd think the guy would know what to do.

Lot o the blame goes to the selectors for makin so many changes to the team over the last 16 tests. A player need to worry about the match in hand instead of having to worry if he is going to be dropped if he fails. When they started with Bulbul and some of the others, they needed to stick with them for 3-5 matches just to give them a chance to build as a team.

They can still do that. Atleast have 7-9 core players. I suggest the following:

Rokon
Hannan
Ashraful
Sumon
Kapali
Pilot
Moni/Rafique/Durjoy - stick with one
Monju/Talha/Talha/Tareq - Any two
Masri

Very much agree with the boss' version of having "core" players. But Bulbul was a wedge in this board's proposed teams for a long time...but now, hopefully everybody, and especially the BCB sees what a fruitless gamble he was.

Lastly, maybe the challenge cup was a really bad idea in terms of it being considered a platform for team selection. Hopefully the selectors and members in this board will bear that in mind nextime - with hindsight, everything is easy.

Default The Challange Trophy

I actually viewed it as a practice ground and maybe a chance for some of the A players and the oldies (Nannu specially) to come back. Bulbul did do well and Anwar did score a hundred but when India plays India A in such tournaments, they don't really take the first player who scores a hundred or a fifty. They look at everyones previous tour records, their experience and all that.
The performance only matters for players who are tested and true, not some unknown rookie unless he is Masri.
