Welcome to Steve Rhodes. I hope goodbye is not around the corner, but there's a high possibility.

He used to be a very good wicketkeeper and a useful lower middleorder batsman when I first started supporting Worcestershire back in the late 80s. He played with some great players and big names within the country scene, Botham, Hick, Moody and Dilley to name a few. It has been interesting to see him transition into a coach within the county system. No fireworks in terms of results but then again, Worcestershire is not one of the fashionable county teams, so there is less opportunity. I wonder if this latter reality would play as an advantage in terms of coaching the Bangladesh team. I still follow Worcs and read all articles about their matches, so from that perspective, I get the impression that he is relatively adept at man-management. This is certainly useful to have when you have one or two star players like Sakib or Tamim, but I wonder how much of an impression he would make on the lesser players.

In terms of appointing him before a world cup in England, I think that is something of a masterstroke! Worcester's ground New Road is one of the prettiest in the country but also prone to really awful weather and in recent years had been under water once from a bit of flashflooding. So the Tigers would certainly be able to extricate every bit of information about how to play and win under awful weather

His first assignment would be a full series tour in the Caribbean. It will be a challenging task for him.

I welcome the coach but not don't think he can achieve much in the current set up. When did an English coach did something amazing with a national team anyway?

You will have watched the Sri Lanka series. The pitches are currently bouncing, and going to potentially suit their bowlers," he said. "My hunch is the pitches are going to be pretty similar. So we will try to incorporate our practices with bouncier, greener wickets in the three days of practice we have."

"Test matches, they're not complicated," he said. "In trying to win a Test match, you need a good start. There are ways of winning without that, but it's not rocket science. It's about getting out of the traps, building on getting a good score, or bowling the opposition out. Really, it's about not letting the opposition back in the game."

Can we get steve rhodes to peruse alan richardson for our bowling coach. anyone who doesn't know who alan richardson is, he played under rhodes in worcs and was absolutely unbelievable for 4 season at worcs. at age 37, he won wisden player of the year for worcs. since than he moved onto Warkicshire bowling coach role and is doing extremely well there.

I think the duo of rhodes and richardson can do wonder for us working together

I wonder if he asked for support staff.

We need a batting coach, and fielding coach. We might be stuck with Walsh until WC.

I hope it's the former. A head coach should lobby for Walsh's firing ASAP.

Can someone like Tiger's Eye/Al Furqaan provide a comparison of our pace performance before and after Walsh - just to verify that is it Walsh who is making us inept or it is just the dismal situation of our pace pipeline altogether.
