Mashrafe bowling the last over will make the difference between a gumbie score and a good score. They'll take around 30 off the last over scoring 250 when they probably would've only made 225-230.

We need infact everything that is needed for a game of cricket, to not let us down. But if you make a prioity, it should be the batting at 1,2 and 3. If the top order performs, the wk and evey one gets the condition needed for their batting. If a No 7 has to be in the crease every time before 15/20 overs, how can they perfom.

Rakib should be either opening or one down and Ash at 5/6, I don't know if that will solve the problem of top order, but I think that suits with the tempeament of the players curently in the team. Whatever, the top order has to perform then only we can think of middle and lower order, how good they are.

Let's get the current laggards. i.e the Mashrafees of the team, some much needed practice in these below the radar matches.

My guess they will field the following team to booster the anemic batting order:

1. Tamim
2. Zunaid
3. SN
4, Ash
5. Nazim
6. Raqibul
7. Sakibul (the other spinner)
8. Dhiman
9. Mahmudulla (the spinner)
10. Farhad (the opening bowler)
11. Aftab (the opening bowler)

...but still they will fail to cross the 200 marks.

Who will be the 5th bowler? They think they will not need it. But if they really need it, Ash and Tamim will picth in as 5th (as Fast bowler) and 6th bowler (as spinner).

That is the main point. When the game is over in 40 overs why you need 5th bowler or even a third seamer

I just cant beleive that they are going to play Farhad Reza as the second seamer ! I mean Reza is only a mediocre (ok) bowler. I mean he can be our third option, no doubt about that. But he is not the second bowler quality. The selectors need to realise that we are only playing against Ireland, so we don't need to bolster our batting line up and take it to #11. We need specialist players for specialist positions. We don't need no make-shift approaches. Having Farhad reza as the second seamer instead of a third seamer is only a make-shift gamble, I am sure we not gono beat world class team like that.

Take him down boys! I hated his chiken dance..when it was ON us.

Goodluck bangladesh! Start with a victory.. Inshallah it will be 3-0 in 6 days time.

My XI
Tamim [ Has some form ]
Nafees [ Minnow basher :S ]
Aftab [ Fixed spot ]
Ashraful [ Captain ]
Sakib [ Fixed spot ]
Rakib [ Doing good..settling middle order ]
Riyadh [ Take quick runs at the end and clean striker PLUS a variation in the bowling with offspinners against a tally of left handed IRISH batsmen ]
Dhiman [ WK ]
Razzak [ Fixed spot ]
Mashrafe [ No other choice ]
Shahadat [ In form strike bowler ]

_____________ I think this will be the team! Shud be the team!

kalpurush bro, can we have a revision of the irish team?
Trent Johnston, Phil Eaglestone, Thinus Fourie, Gary Kidd, Kyle McCallan, Eoin Morgan, Kevin O'Brien, Boyd Rankin, Paul Stirling, Reinhardt Strydom, Greg André Botha, Thompson, Niall O'Brien, William Porterfield, Alex Cusack, Phil Eaglestone
Dave-Langford Smith has replaced Boyd Rankin!

the daily star report

Ireland arrive for 3-match series tonight

Sports Reporter

Ireland cricket team are due to arrive in Dhaka tonight to play a three-match one-day series against Bangladesh from Tuesday.

They take on the Tigers on March 18 at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium and then play the next two matches on March 22 and 24 in the same venue.

The last time they faced Bangladesh, it was in the World Cup in West Indies and it was not a happy memory for the Tigers as they lost by 47 runs in a Super Eights encounter.

Led by Trent Johnston, the Irish team will arrive with the confidence of winning an ICC inter-continental match against UAE last week. They will also have the services of wicketkeeper-batsman Niall O'Brien, who became the first player to return to international cricket after having a stint at the Indian Cricket League (ICL).

Meanwhile, BCB announced yesterday that tickets will go on sale at all nominated AB Bank Limited branches n Dhaka from 1pm on March 16. VIP tickets are worth Tk 300, clubhouse Tk 200, special enclosure Tk 100 and gallery tickets are priced at Tk 30.

SQUAD
Trent Johnston (captain), William Porterfield (vice-captain), Kyle McCallan, Kevin O'Brien, Niall O'Brien, Andre Botha, Alex Cusack, Reinhardt Strydom, Thinus Fourie, Gary Kidd, Greg Thompson, Eoin Morgan, Paul Stirling, David Langford-Smith, Phil Eaglestone.

1. We have a bunch of new players in the team.
2. We only have one quality pacer in the line up.
3. Our vice captain's losing it.
4. Our captain, if the allegations are true, is losing it too.
5. We got so battered in the other games this year that we are extremely low in confidence.

If we still manage a clean sweep, I'll become a great fan of the mental strength of our players.

this chap seems to be a good hitter! 17 sixes agt 14 fours.
his bowling record is far from threatening though!
econ. rate of 5.19 is quite encouraging.
10 wkts in 20 matches can't be alarming for any opponent.

now we have to chalk out the plan how we would pay back his chicken dance!

now we have to

if "slap-happy" ashra-FOOL fails to score handsomely in the series, i would bet his captaincy days will be over on the day of FOOLs

'home of cricket' has the worst pitch in the country! 250 is far from possibility for a team that has some brain-less dashers!
