I'm confused about the additional nickname. To the best of my knowledge teams which already have a nickname as part of their official team name (In American sports mainly) do not have additional nicknames. I've never heard people refer to the LA Lakers as anything else other than the Lakers. Maybe he wants to emulate football clubs (MU being the Red Devils, Arsenal being The Gunners etc.) but I highly doubt it will catch on.

so this is why the name was not released by DG. All 3 of them are after Tait. I would say DG has a better chance since Tait emailed directly expressing his desire to play for DG. Duronto or Kings should try for Dmitri or Junaid

Shakib in the vid said that the atmosphere in the IPL is the same as the atmosphere in the BPL. Thats good news as the local players will feel how international matches are.

Alfonso Thomas in DG, from FB

Quote:
Defending champions Dhaka Gladiators confirmed yesterday that South African pacer Alfonso Thomas has been recruited. The 35-year old has replaced another Gladiators' foreign recruit, SriLanka's Lasith Malinga.

Thomas was bought at his base price of 75,000 dollars and will join the squad once he completes his services for the Big Bash League side Perth Scorchers.

Malinga was bought by the Gladiators from the Bangladesh Premier League players' auction held in December 2012, but the pacer sustained an injury and was advised to rest for at least two weeks.

Dilshan
Ash
Luke
Anamul
Shakib
Owais
Afridi
Soumya
Mashrafe
Thomas
Saqlain

Squad:
Local – Mashrafe Bin Mortaza, Shakib Al Hasan, Mohammed Ashraful, Anamul Haque Bijoy, Mosharraf Rubel, Raqibul Hasan, Shoumo Sarkar, Liton Das, Mahbubul Alam Robin, Saqlain Sajib

Foreign – Shahid Afridi, Tilakratne Dilshan, Owais Shah, Luke Wright, Tilakratne Dilshan, Joshua Cobb, Chris Lidle, Darren Stevens, Kaushal Lukurachi

No Aussie players in DG squad. Must be a coincidence.

^^^ You guys do know that he speaks/reads Bangla well enough. Whats the point of Banglish?

Discussing someone in public while making sure they don't understand, isn't proper etiquette.

1) S. Sarkar
2) Bijoy
3) Ash
4) Shakib
5)O.Saha
6) Jodu modu kodu
7) Jodu modu kodu
8) M.Rubel
9) Mash
10)A.Thomas
11) Liddle/Shajib

Its not compulsory to play 5 overseas players, plus, dhaka Will miss Dilshan, Wright for first few games, and perhaps Afridi for the whole tournamet so that's the best XI they can get.

Be it Rok/Liton or Pont's best buddy Steven/Cobb. But I think his best buddies will get the nod ahead of The Rok at 6 and 7

Why should he? Quite a number of puerile members have been unwelcoming and often downright rude. Do note all the classless posters discussing him in Bangla using a pejorative moniker. You may not like his aggressive promotion but he did/does bring value to BC and you cannot doubt his dedication to Bangladesh crickets. In Bangla we have a word for those posters I'm referring to: কৃতঘ্ন. As a BC member, Ian deserves as much respect as you or I.

Im actually unaware about these puerile members who discuss about him in Bangla because i dont know how to read Bangla. If thats the case then yes its very rude. I always thought to have a highly skilled coach in this forum is an honour.

Btw what i said, i said it in a jokingly way. No malice intended.

So he wont come back? Im kinda missing him.
