No. He was defeated in majority of the early matches and still at #4 in the league. None of those matches showed he has ranking higher than 90k. Suddenly the scenario changed and I saw him buying a lot of costly players over last couple of days. His yesterday's matches rating was 134,489.

Well then you have your answer. The expensive players raised his rating, to that point.
