Default Team Selection Issue

You cannot play the same eleven against all the opponents in the world cup. You can use part timer bowlers to fill up the quota against off form teams like SA or Pakistan. To beat a team like England, Aus or India, you need different strategies.

Today we had been clearly 1 bowler short in spinning department. Pacers have been below par.

Mithun has not done anything special to get repeated chances. If you have to score big, you need to take chances by taking players who can score big at higher SR.

Mash has been average with his approach in this world cup so far. He clearly told yesterday that they will play defensively against Eng. We already saw the result today.

Here is another thing..we can not beat Eng Ind Aus in this WC. we should have experimented against these sides

We will still do good against SL,Pak and may be WI..that NZ game will really hurt us

Bowling first with the 'winning combination' was the experiment

how on earth saif is your 3rd pacer ..guy himself says he is a batting allrounder ..we are missing a specialist spinner.. rubel taskin both hit the deck bowler with long square ropes they would have helped us chase 320 .. team should be tamim soumya shakib mush mullah shabbir/liton saif miraz mash rubel fizz

What's this bs you guys keep talking about getting another spinner.
Shakib > all spinners in BD past or present
We need another pacer who can actually bowl.

You put england to bat after winning toss. Needed rubel and mustafiz bowl opening spell. Mosaddek shouldnt have played today. Liton should have come in place of Mithun

If this doesn't wake up our team management, nothing will. Drop Mithun play rubel ffs. Saif isn't good enough to be a 3rd pace bowler option. It's useless to play with 7 batsman. Capability to take wicket in the middle overs is what makes or breaks a team in this tourney.

In tournament like WC, preparation matters. Aside from team preparation, Shakib also personally prepared himself, and the results are showing. The article below explains how Shakib prepared himself:

http://www.espncricinfo.com/story/_/...orld-cup-start

Mushfiq is also known for his hard work and his performance has been OK. What did other players do to personally to prepare themselves for the WC?

Life is challenging and full of uncertainties, but from my life experience, I have found that you can mitigate a lot of it through proper preparation. Shakib is proving it too.

Going forward, if Bangladesh wants to have any chance of qualifying for the semi, they should do the following:

- If win the toss, bat first, unless the team is 90% confident of bundling out opposition under 200. Batting is our strength and we must play to our strength.

- We do not have to play winning combination every match. Select team based on opponent and pitch condition.

- The batsmen have to show intent. Except for Shakib, no one has been able to show any courage or intent. Head coach and batting coach need to have a session on this.

- This WC is probably Mashrafe Mortaza's last hurrah. He has lead us amazingly but suddenly in this world cup, I do not see that fire in his leadership. His captaincy feels passive and reactive, and not proactive and energetic. This is SAD. Not sure what has changed between IRE series and WC. We need old Mortaza back for the remaining couple of matches. I still feel that if the team had tried little harder, they could have defeated NZ.

- Saifuddin or any other all rounder must not be part of playing eleven. Except for Shakib, Bangladesh has not produced any worthy all rounder. We therefore should play with team of specialists with roles and expectations clearly defined.

Here is my team for next game:

Liton
Soumya
Shakib
Mushfiqur
Mahmudullah
Mosaddek
Shabbir
Miraz
Mashrafe
Rubel
Abu Zayed

Rest for Fizz and Tamim. Will psychologically motivate them to do well.

I think we only need 1 team change at the moment, bring in Rubel instead of Mithun. This will weaken the batting a bit, but we need the penetrating power in bowling especially with againg Mashrafe.
It is too important of a tournament to sit out Fizz and Tamim, just for them to come back with a bang..

That extra batting number given by Mithun will mean nothing if our opposition bats us out every game. We need Miraz and Saifuddin to step up with the bat now at 7 or 8 to make up for Mithun and bring Rubel in but our management is too scared to make such bold decisions

Agree with this although I fancy us to upset either India or Aussies hopefully it's the Aussies as we're **** scared to play our neighbours.

Although I’m not a great fan of taskin but I’m sure he would have been good in these conditions

The 2017 Champions Trophy Match against NZ at Cardiff, Taskin was used and he added that extra bite to the Bangladesh bowling attack. Bangladesh used not 1,not 2 not 3 but FOUR experience Seamers and it paid dividends.

http://www.espncricinfo.com/series/8...ns-trophy-2017.

Today, we lacked that extra attacking seamer. 320 is very much chaseble by Bangladesh and it got pretty easy to bat to as expected. If you kept the same XI, you should have batted first.

We had Chandika as coach. I miss him, he was a great fit for us.

I thought Tamim was very hardworking, all before he made that counting gesture though.
