Default Shanto, Seejan & Selim out

Janakantha reports that these 3 players - Shanto, Ehsanul Seejan & Md. Selim are probably out of the team to go for Namibia and Zimbabwe.

The only name that I am hoping to see to be announced in the 18 member team that will go to Nam & Zim is Monjurul Islam the left arm pacer.

The following is a list of already enlisted players in the camp to go to Namibia & Zimbabwe:-

1. Sujon (c)
2. Sumon (vc)
3. Pilot (wk)
4. Hannan
5. Bidyut
6. Rajin
7. Kapali
8. Ashraful
9. Rokon
10. Mushfique
11. Rafique
12. Monjurul Rana
13. Anwar Munir
14. Tapash Baisya
15. Tareq Aziz

We should wait for couple more days to label someone with the caiptaincy / VC. It will only increase confusion and propagate wrong message. Meanwhile the team continues to be shuffled to the end, I think.

Default We are taking 18 players?

Thats probably going to be some sort of a record. Teams usually take 15 to 16 players for Five Test Series'. I think Chinaman is right though, we should wait till the captaincy issue is settled on before we think too much about the balance of the side.

There are no surprises in the 15 if this is it. I think 18 was a typo. Monju is in Pakistan so naming him would be a surprise. But what about Alamgir Kabir who came back last week and has also been taking some wickets? It will be nice to see Shanto exiting the scene.

Finally, all the changes from the last squad are actually old timers - Bidyut, Rokon. Monjural Islam Rana is the one new player who lasted from the crazed experimentation that was going on against England. Rana could have a breakout year.

I actually expect Rana to be in the whole of the ODI series... he is a decent bowler and a handy batsman in the lower order... he was really impressive in the England series... and I checked his performance in the English circuit (some league that he was playing). It was an impressive performance to say the least...

Default agree with radicalsami

last time I read few threads provided on BanglaCricket..and also i guess two or three matches Rana showed good performance..but we have to keep in mine that he is young and also need to get more experience playing int'l cric.

Default Why Rokon and Sujon

if bangladesh wants to move forward these two cannot be selected. they both struggle horribly at international and prevented other more talented players from gaining experience. surely their time is up, i thought the bcb would have realised that sujon is not good enough in the england series. if they persist with him, bangladesh is at a great loss.

I was talking about 18 member preliminary squad camp - and among them, if 3 are eliminated (i.e., Shanto, Seejan and Selim) then only 15 are left to go to Zimbabwe.

However, I think I read it somewhere that the total number could rise to 16.
