Jahirul hits record 4th and ends with 965 runs
Jahirul Islam Aumi has just equalled mahmudullah's record of 4th 100 of the season!
His total of 965 runs is only second to Minhajul Abedin's 1012 runs amassed in 2001-02.

Jahurul is another player who shows plenty of promise in domestic leagues, but fails when given an opportunity at a higher level. There is no way you can say he has been overlooked. Since 2003, he has been given opportunities in all sorts of BCB development teams including good number of matches for the A-team. I sincerely hope he will capitalize on the next opportunity he may get.

he scored 55 n.o. to beat sri lanka u-17
Jahurul came into prominence with a match winning 55* agt sri lanka in u-17 asia cup held in dhaka in 2001-02 season.
out of his team mates of that u-17 team, the following has already donned national color:
1) Mashrafe Mortaza
2) Mohammad Ashraful
3) Nafees Iqbal Khan
4) Mohammad Sharif
5) Talha Juabir
6) Junaid Siddiqui
7) Manjural Islam Rana (may his soul rest in peace)
He was 4th in terms of runs scored for bangladesh after Ashraful (303), Nafees (212) & Hasibul Haque Babel (133)

Fully agreed - unlike Faisal Hossain, who had been labelled to have a poor technique, and was rarely considered for academy/A sides till last year, Jahurul used to be a fixture in the academy sides in the last few years, along with people like Nadif Chowdhury and Nasiruddin Faruqe but failed to deliver at academy/A tours - I think he didn't used to keep back then. I'm hoping he has improved and can carry his prolific NCL form into the upcpoming A matches.

I am trying to collect data about how many 'A' team matches he has got!
however, his performance graph shows a certain uptrend and that conversion rate is an indicator of his maturity.
however, i am a bit disappointed since none of his hundreds are big in size, 139 being the highest.

we can only wish now he gets selected for the SA A and WI A games and then show something. i think then he would find a spot for England tour. as i fell, the likes of junaed, imrul are going to be under pressure to perform soon and could be dropped. so there will be voids in the team

well, in 5 FC matches played between 2006-07, he scored 221, 2 fifties, 3 ducks, and his best effort is of 87 in an innings
in 1 academy match, he scored a duck and 1.
here is a comparison of his performance :
Season | Matches | Inns | Not Out | Runs | HS | Ave | 100 | 50 | 2007-10 | 29 | 53 | 6 | 2014 | 139 | 42.85 | 5 | 11 | 2002-06 | 25 | 46 | 5 | 1362 | 139 | 33.22 | 2 | 11 |
After the selectors lost interest in him, his bat became more prolific and yielded 2,014 runs @ 42.85!
hope, his next assignment with BD 'A' would be far better than his previous efforts.

Jahurul is also another player who plays so much well in FC. If the selectors dont select him, there is nothing he can do. He is way better than Zuna. We may see that JS is doing fine and the cricketers are doing quite well. However, if the selectors are giving their 20%, their will be a bad impression in BD cricket. Like if you fail one test and do extremely well in others, your average grade will drop significantly.

Well he's in good form. But it's not ideal preparation really. He should be celebrating Rajshahis win with his teammates, instead he's going down to Chittagong to play for Bangladesh with a cloud of controversy hanging over the head of the player he's about to replace. All the talk will be about Raqibul going, rather than him making the team on merit.

It would be a sudden Test debut for Jahirul.
I hope he would be able to adjust with the new situation.

lets hope he demonstrates his skill, because otherwise his stay with the national team is likely to be short with board playing all kind of strange games

This may be a blessing in disguise. If Jahurul can show some intent and later on Roc comes back we can leave Aftab and one of the non-performing openers. We will see. Whatever happens, happens for a reason.

If he is a specialist Keeper Basmen then ho-ho-ho. Lo-Behold. M.M. Rahim may take a break for a loooooong time behind the stumps. however, he is still welcome to play one 50+ innings on average every 2 innings he pays like he does now...
