I ask you, all of you, is indiscipline and cheating (match fixing) same? Why the heck Papon is putting the two next to each other?

To be fair, Shakib got 6 months and Ash 8 years, so to answer your question no. I also believe Shakib is being punished for all his antics over the years, most of which went unpunished except for the crotch grabbing incident. Plus, there must be some corner of personal hatred towards him that also played a part. Thus, I feel the ban was too harsh, but that a harsh punishment was necessary to bring him in line and also set an example. Ash and Shakib have been made examples for the rest. If they would like to follow them, then they can kiss their careers good by.

But at least BCB is not PCB and asking for ban reduction. Amir was a cheat just as Ashraful and he should have gotten a life ban just like Azharuddin, Odumbe. Marolon Samuels deserved one as well. Just my opinion on it.

But team will be fine. Shakib and Tamim will always raise our chances of winning any given match, but Test or ODI, Bangladesh has always played better in the absence of Shakib and Tamim. Its a paradox.

Other than axing the big guy, what other positive decisions were taken in BCB in today's so called meeting?

MEDIA RELEASE
OUTCOMES OF 6TH MEETING OF THE BCB BOARD OF DIRECTORS
Six-month playing ban imposed on Shakib Al Hasan for breach of contract agreement
The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) today imposed a six-month playing ban on allrounder Shakib Al Hasan for breaching agreement terms under the National Player’s Contract. The cricketer will not be eligible for selection in the Bangladesh team and will not be allowed to participate in any competitive game, international or domestic, during the suspension period. The Board also decided not to issue no objection certificate (NOC) to the player for participation in cricket competitions overseas until 31 December 2015. The sanctionswill come into effect immediately. The decisions were taken at the 6th meeting of the Board of Directors.

BCB President Nazmul Hassan, MP said that it had become necessary for the Board to take a zero tolerance approach towards disciplinary issues: “The penalties are a consequence of multiple allegations of misdemeanor against Shakib. This is not due to a one-off incident. Rather, he has been repeatedly breaking rules and it has come to the point where the Board has identified a serious attitude issue with him which had to be stopped once and for all.

“This is a sad moment for us. Shakib is everyone’s favourite cricketer and a national icon. He is an ambassador for Bangladesh. However, if we do not take such strict measures now then it could have a very damaging effect on the overall discipline and spirit of the National Team and may set the wrong example for other players.

“This is a message to all that the BCB will not compromise with indiscipline.”

AHM MUSTAFA KAMAL CONGRATULATED

The Board congratulated AHM Mustafa Kamal, FCA, MP on taking over as President of the International Cricket Council (ICC). Mr Kamal became the President on 26 June 2014 during the ICC Annual Conference in Melbourne.

Now I wonder what contract agreement he breached.

So much for "major changeS." That's it? Waste an AC room to come to this verdict? Oh and congratulate a puppet? Yea. Nothing will change, it was all a what-people-wants-to-hear speech.
Also, people are applauding the coach. I did too. But come to think of it, this not such a hot start. Or rather too hot I should say. Poorly handled. What did he do to get Shakib mad? No one questioned that yet.

I don't think the bottom line changes much anyways. Shakib gives us a better chance on paper, but it's still a team game last time i checked.

So no more modeling without the NOC. It's a good decision.

“There will be a massive change in different places (management level). But today this one issue was so important, so delicate and so touching that we couldn't touch any other topic.

“Every player will get a letter, (to the effect that) before signing any commercial activity they have to inform the BCB. In certain cases they will need approval from the BCB.”

Should have suspended Tamim as a bonus as well Make sure he loses 100lbs within 6 months before coming back to play.

I am not sure if it a good decision or not. Jodi ghuush dite hoi ta holey BCB will go down another level of corruption. Everyone wants their share. Already knee deep with tenders, BPL etc.

So what were the major changes? Did the selectors get fired for constantly picking Tamim, Farhad Reza, Razzak, Ryad etc?
Did Akram get fired for being linked in the generator scandal?
Did the team manager get fired for his failure to enforce discipline?
Did the board of directors take responsibility for our loss to Hongkong or BPL and resign?
