Bangladesh Cricket Board Academy players, Nasiruddin Faruque, Dolar Mahmud and Mehrab Hossain jnr, were given warnings for using abusive language towards umpires at a match against South Africa Academy in Jessore on Sunday.
Match referee Raqibul Hasan found them guilty of breaching the code of conduct by excessive appealing and using offensive language against umpires Jahangir Alam and Tanvir Ahmed.
While Faruque, the academy captain, was given a suspended sentence of two matches Mahmud and Mehrab got a match each. The suspension will come in to effect if the players repeat the same offence in the Academy Cup.

Good, so we are following Pakistan and learning all the bad things from them. How could future prospects like Dolar and Mehrab forget the basic ethics of cricket?

Is it the Ash effect? BCB is too soft on players conduct I must say

I don't see these boys making their way to the international level to sustain there. They are yet to get places in the national side and already became arrogant enough. Pathetic.

Being agreed with you, I do have some concern about the umpiring standard in BD, too.

Being agreed with you, I think the management should have handled any objection about umpiring. We must not forget this is not domestic cricket. This is international level and we must not do any thing that can only raise more questions about our players.

75% of their match fee should have been fined. No MERCY for such behavior.

Shameful act really ! These guys have to realise that this not a para moholla match, where you go ahead and beat up the umpire for not giving the decision in favor of you, but rather its an international match against an international opponent, where prestige matter alot, along side performance !

Ditto! I hope that they do not bring down the prestige of Bangladesh, I think that BCB acted quickly to nip the bud, they are young and have to learn decorum and discipline, after all they are playing for BD. You have to accept the decision of the umpire even if you think that the umpire is wrong. They should watch more international matches and see how class cricketers accept the wrongful decisions of incompetent umpires, and simply walk away. I have seen it happening to Ashraful quite a few times.

Media Release

Suspended suspension for South African Academy cricketers

South Africa National Cricket Academy players Neil Wagner and Bradley Barnes have been given suspended suspension by match referee ASM Roquibul Hassan for code of conduct breach during the second innings of South Africa National Academy today (Monday, 07 April 2008) in the Grameenphone Academy Cup 4-day match at Jessore.

The cricketers were disciplined for showing serious dissent against umpiring decisions.

Neil Wagner has been given a suspended suspension of two (2) matches and Bradley Barnes one (1) match. The suspension will be automatically applicable if the concerned players commit the same offences again in the ongoing Grameenphone Academy Cup series.

I guess so. Yet this is not the right way for the players to protest. It doesn't bring honor for your country.

If both teams are protesting at umpiring, it means that there is something wrong with the umpires giving too many wrongful decisions. BCB should investigate and look into this, and not give the umpires the benefit of the doubt all the time, or change the umpires.

we don't have good umpires...

we see players complain a lot about them during the NCL and other matches.
