Default Stranded on and off the field, time's running out for Mahmudullah

Stranded on and off the field, time's running out for Mahmudullah

Quote:
"Mahmudullah's behaviour inside the dressing room after his maiden fifty against Australia was simply shocking as he created scene over his teammates for not recognizing his effort by clapping him when he returned back,'' the source added.
Quote:
Time is surely running out for Mahmudullah whose prolonged poor form continues to cost Bangladesh in the middle overs. He has scores of 3 and 6 in the ongoing ODI series against Bangladesh, and is coming on the back of a lukewarm World Cup campaign that instead required him to step up like the senior players so often do for Bangladesh.

But it's not just the runs that have dried up. Mahmudullah also dropped a catch in the first ODI in Colombo in addition to other occasions of shoddy fielding in recent times, and isn't even contributing with the ball. He was known to break partnerships in his hay days but the 33-year-old hasn't bowled since sustaining a shoulder injury during Bangladesh's tour of New Zealand earlier in the year, an injury which kept him from bowling throughout the series. And it's assumed that he played the entire World Cup with that injury and now seems to have even lost some support in the dressing room.

His indifferent innings of 28 off 41 balls in the World Cup match against England led to differences in the dressing room, Cricbuzz has reliably learnt from sources. Shakib Al Hasan is said to have stayed away from team planning for most of the World Cup after captain Mashrafe Mortaza did not drop Mahmudullah on his insistence in the aftermath of the defeat to England at Cardiff...
Rift between Mahmudullah and team mates especially Shakib?

Wonder how the over-zealous Riyad fan boys take this.

Actually most of the over-zealous fan boys have disappeared since the WC

If we do pick Haturi he might as well just retire

I think even our u-19 team players can bat much better then Mullah and Tamim. get rid of these guys, they will not anymore bring anything new in the table as a performer, looking like they have already passed their best time.

If Shakib actually has the balls to drop useless seniors like that unlike Mashrafee then I'm all for him being captain

I am a Riyad fan boy but I won't defend him if he cannot perform. Simple.

However, who can you defend? Tamim, Soumya, Shabbir, Mosaddek, Fizz, Rubel?

But failure of others cannot be an excuse for Riyad.

I never pegged you for one anyways.

Around this forum if someone criticizes the Holy 5 its sacrilege and they get triggered then proceed to start bringing up past exploits or comparing to youngsters failing as if the seniors weren't complete duds their first 5-7 years (you aren't like them). After investing 10 - 15 years into some of these players is it so hard to expect some consistent performances?

They stopped posting since the WC and was expecting them to make a come back to the forum with 'told ya so' comments when we'd beat SL while Tamim and Riyad magically comes back to form, but alas they will be delayed

Shakib will get his chance to shake up the T20I team soon. It will be interesting to see whether he will standby his BFF Tamim (who, besides poor form with bat, has also started to drop easy catches) in this format.

Riyad will be gone for long after this series anyway. He will have to go through a surgery to fully recover from his injury, and it will take him long time to recover from.

Shakib wanted to drop Mahmudullah after the England match in the World Cup but Mashrafe refused that's why he does not follow his plans.

He has been carrying a shoulder injury since NZ tour. Forget about bowling, he can hardly bat.

If he is injured from NZ seies, then why he even bowled in 1st odi against sl?

If a player is injured why he is still playing series after series?

These are all bogus excuse. If you are injured, you should not be in the team. Alternately if you play series after series, injury is not an excuse anymore.

^^It's not uncommon for players to play with injury, with pain killer injection - like how Saifuddin played during WC or how Mushfiq is playing for last one year or so. However, yes, if you can't deliver, if you can't meet expectation as a senior player, you need to step aside. Riyad, like Mash, unfortunately don't mind being a passenger in the team.

Yes the difference is the end result. If an injured player can somehow still can deliver, they become hero. But if a injured player continuously fail to deliver and still continue to play and hurt the team, the he becomes a villian....there is no room to use injury as an excuse.

It is common for our pathetic management but quite uncommon in international cricket. What they did to Saifuddin, pressuring him to play with a back injury was awful. This could shorten his career.

So whats wrong with Cricbuzz? Harsha Bhogle writes and does video editorials for them.

The writer himself had an exclusive with Salahuddin during the world cup and wrote for newage and writes for the dailysun too.

Cant differentiate fake news and real news it seems

The thing with Tamim and Riad is, they are not scoring runs consistently. In Tamim's defense he has been pretty good between 2015-2018.

But hey, the reason why people are not happy with either of their performances is because they have been playing for 12-13 years. We have invested a lot on these guys and you have got to expect them to deliver more when you compare with Anamul Litton Mosaddek.

Soumya too has been playing for 5 years and has 110 international matches and hardly seems like he has developed a bit of maturity.

Mahmudullah has been a confusing player for most of his career. Had a little purple patch at 4 2015 wc then flopped at that spot for many games. Can’t set total well, cant build innings. But at 6 and 7 had done well chasing at times, esp CT win v NZ, played better knowing what the situation is batting down the order coming on deep into the innings, even then if chasing and he comes on early into the chase he seems lost what to do. Only knows what to do well when the innings goes deeper and platform set for him. Never lit the world on fire at any position on a decent consistency.

It’s time to move him along.

So why he bowled again in 3rd ODi?

I thought he is injured and is unable to bowl before the surgery and recovery in coming months.

Is he really injured? Then the followup question he then why he bowled again?

or is it a bhua injury excuse to divert some heat?
