Mad respect to Oscar even after not making to the finals.

And echoing turbo-da regarding Nadia.

Btw, I am tired of non-neutral, All-American bandwagonish of broadcast where they edit out "irrelevant" parts. Shame.

Suddenly 18 gold medals for the hosts. Good going GB! Great 400m win from Kirani James as Grenada wins a gold.

I saw that Kirani James's 400M run he is only 19. Current WR holder Michael Johnson was at BBC studio and thinks this kid will break his record.

^^ we already have by population: GB # 12'; USA # 40

http://www.guardian.co.uk/sport/data...ble-visualised

For the official tally - not possibly. GB has 4 boxers in the semis, both men and women hockey team in the semi, Tom Daley in diving final, Mo Farah in the 5K and thats about it. Including Tom D, Mo, we will possibly get 3/4 more golds.... not enough to topple USA. In fact the difference will become larger, given that they have beach volleyball, basketball, volleyball etc to win medals in.

Its a shame, we lost few easy golds in few events, including Victoria Pendleton in cycling but its never easy, is it!

Jamaica 1-2-3.

No doubting about Usain Bolt's talent. But I feel this Olympic has revealed Yohan Blake to the world. What a great sprinter, playing at the wrong time.

LONDON — Pointing the baton at the clock showing the world-record time of 40.82 seconds, Carmelita Jeter anchored the United States on Friday night to its first Olympic gold medal in the women's 4x100-meter relay since 1996.

Tianna Madison, 200-meter champion Allyson Felix and Bianca Knight gave the U.S. a big lead heading into the anchor leg by Jeter, who already owned a silver medal from the 100 and a bronze from the 200 in London.

Their final time cut more than a half-second off the old record of 41.37 run by East Germany in 1985.

1-0 Mexico after 30 minutes in the gold medal match against Brazil. Not at all surprised.
